Sources are reporting that the reason for TNA considering removing Jeff Hardy from the main event of Final Resolution is that Hardy was "hammered" backstage. Firing him was never considered, only removing him from the show. Management considered several replacement matches as well as finding a storyline reason for stripping the title from Hardy, but in the end they decided to stick with the match as planned, which saw Hardy retain the title.

TNA officials were planning to replace the Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Morgan match at one point on Sunday due to concerns over Hardy's well being backstage. The plan was for Eric Bischoff to announce that Jeff Hardy was injured during the company's tour of Dubai and then strip him of the title.
The replacement main event would have been a three-way match between Matt Morgan, Mr. Anderson, and Jeff Jarrett for the vacant TNA Title. However, Hardy was eventually deemed fit to wrestle and worked the main event against Morgan.
Powell's POV: Although some people within TNA are trying to downplay the situation, it is rather telling that there was enough concern over Hardy's status that creative went so far as to come up with a replacement match. It is interesting that Anderson was going to work the match considering that the company had previously opted to keep him sidelined until January due to his concussion.
