WWE superstar John Cena has suffered a bruised hip that will keep him out of action for an unspecified period of time.
The nine-time world champion was wrestling Wade Barrett at a non-televised event in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, when he got injured, causing the match to abruptly end.
However, in good news for the WWE, the injury is not as first feared and Cena should be back in plenty of time for April's huge WrestleMania event.
The Wrestling Observer reports: "The injury was not as serious as feared land he is not expected to be out of action for any lengthy period of time, with it considered a day-to-day thing."
WWE's website also acknowledged the injury, stating that Cena's return to action will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
And Jim Ross tweeted that "knowing John, it won't be too many days".
Cena is currently off all WWE house shows, with Big Show taking his place and ring announcer Justin Roberts telling fans that he is currently "medically prohibited" from competing.
In the meantime, there are several possible candidates waiting in line to fill Cena's spot on Raw.
WWE name-dropped Dave Batista for the second week running, prompting speculation that The Animal might be on his way back to Vince McMahon's company.
