Wrestling has strayed so far from its roots I'm amazed they are even able to call it wrestling without getting sued for false advertisement. This debate is moot though. Vince won. Non wrestling programming won. So you get to drown in 90-100 minutes of bullshit promos and skits in a 120 minute program, yet still call it wrestling.
Hooray for wrestling fans.
That's why I don't watch Raw as much anymore. There's just too much junk too wade through to get to the good parts. I'd watch Smackdown more but its on at a time when I'm sleeping and I catch most of it online. I watch most of the PPV though because that is the one event where you are guaranteed wrestling for say at least 2 hours.
Some of the skits they used are pointless and offensive though. Anyone remember Mae Young giving birth to a plastic hand? I didn't find that entertaining at all. I don't mind some of the comedy moments but when it takes up time that could be used in actual match then I get irked.
I find some of the raw guys lacking in promo skills too. Cena often resorts to cheap jokes in his promos. Orton has this awful monotone in his voice that puts me to sleep. Triple H is okay I guess although he uses the phrase "the best in this industry" a bit too much. Shawn Michaels is the best on the RAW side and he's been on sabbatical since Wrestlemania.
