I only remember him from the ill fated Brawl for All and as a heel with JR.  I remember watching one of the '99 RAWs I did for Gnrfan and he built an announce table for JR and if I remember correctly it got destroyed when Billy Gunn put **** Holly through it to win the **** Title, Good Times!

Clearly as a WWF/E fan we didn't see the best of him, but I've heard great things about him, and as a die hard wrestling fan, its always a sad feeling when another one loses his life far too soon.

R.I.P.

Yeah, that was funny when he would guard JR's announce table. I remember people thought JR would be mad when Steve was paired up with Ed Ferarra(former writer in WWF/WCW,current writer with TNA) who portrayed Oklahoma in WCW as a JR parody but I think JR was happy that his good friend Doc was making $ in WCW in the late 90's.

Also, there are plenty of classic DD matches on youtube from UWF and Japan where he became even more of a legend teaming with former Freebird,Terry Bam Bam Gordy
