What was the first heel to even win the WWF title at WM? 1 had Hogan winning in the tag main event, two had hogan beating bundy,   3 had hogan beating andre, 4 had macho beating ted, 5 had hogan beating macho, 6 had warrior defeating hulk, 7 had hogan winning title from sgt slaughter, 8 had hogan defeating sid, 9  actually had yoko winning but thenthey let hogan again walk out with the world title.

WWF always had that problem, going back to the Sammartino era. They just weren't comfortable with heel champs, and when they did get the belt, the reigns were usually short.

Hogan won the belt from The Iron Sheik, and if memory serves me correctly, Sheik had the belt for about 3 weeks, and also didn't truly win the title. Backlund had the belt previously for around four years, and the Sheik reign was obviously just to move Backlund out of the way so Vince could get the Hulkamania era started.

In hindsight, a Backlund/Hogan matchup would have been better, as the two had history(Backlund beat Hogan when Hogan was a heel). Mcmahon wouldn't allow face vs face matches, so Sheik was thrown into the mix.
