Is PG slowly going away?
« on: June 11, 2011, 11:34:16 am »
Perhaps I'm being a bit premature with this (or it's just wishful thinking) but do you think the WWE are deliberately softening their PG stance? The only reason I saw that is because on Raw the past couple of weeks, we've had Michael Cole call Alex Riley a "bastard" and Steve Austin say "bullshit" and "jackass" (though that's just typical Austin I guess :D). At Extreme Rules, Cena was hit with a straight chair shot to the head, and at WM, Undertaker also took a chair shot to the face, though I've heard both he and Triple H were fined for that spot.

I forget the name, but apparently one of the executives who was responsible for the PG direction left WWE earlier in the year, and Linda McMahon doesn't seem to know if she's running for office again.

Am I reading too much into all of this or do you think WWE are easing up ever so slightly on the PG stuff? If not now though..... when?

I think its slightly more relaxed, only very slightly.  Guys like Rock and Austin never have restrictions simply because if WWE tried they'd just refuse to show.  The closest they get to censoring them is mistimed beeping of the swearing.  What annoys me the most is censorship getting to WWE DVDs with past clips with blood being black and white, complete madness!

Really, they do that? That sucks.

Do they censor matches? Or is is brief clips of matches?

I think they are more in the PG13 range. I figured they'd do PG from 9-10 and PG13 from 10-11

Only know from reviews.  I know its clips.  Like with the True Story of Wrestlemania DVD Austin bleeding in his match with Bret.  A clip gets the black and white treatment.  To be honest, any dvd review where I've read it happens, I avoid picking up the dvd.
