This came up in Gnrfan's "How should they retire?" thread, but it's something that I've thought about and that's been discussed before and I was gonna make a thread about it anyway.

Taker may only be around for a couple more Wrestlemanias - if that - and I actually think it would be cool if he went his entire career undefeated at WM. Beating Taker at WM isn't really gonna benefit any of the current main event guys and I can't really imagine someone debuting in the near future and the WWE building them up to the point that having them cleanly beat Taker at WM seems believable.

Perhaps Taker would be more likely to lose at WM if it was his final match and he wanted to put someone over on his way out but we don't really know when he's retiring. He may decide to have his finao match at a Survivor Series, the event he debuted at. Who knows??

So, should Taker finally lose at WM or should they keep the streak intact and perhaps give future guys something to aim for??

Keep it intact.  He's earned it, there are plenty of other ways of giving a guy "the rub".

One wonders when the streak conciously began, after all these years there isn't much point in ending it.

I think ultimatley it will be up to Taker, as it should be after the service he has given the company.

What i would say is that it could make a "Star" if they had someone on the cusp of super-stardom like Austin was when he fought Bret, then it can be used really well with Taker's blessing of course.

However its not worth ending it for the sake of ending it. Its a great honour and has become a integral part of Wrestlemania these days which is great coz it gives another big match an edge.

But like i say if Taker wants to go out with a defeat then they will but i really hope if they do that they give the rub to a younger guy with promise. However if i was a betting man i'd say Taker has 3 Mania's left and he'll go out undefeated.

Never end it. A company man through and through. Let the man have it at the end of the day.  For shockvalue when its his last wm have him go toa draw with a rising star.

Despite previous rumors, The Undertaker is not expected to retire at WrestleMania 26 next year. His surgically repaired hip is still giving him problems but he’s said to be working through it and receiving regular treatment.

Word is that The Undertaker is hoping to work his current schedule for another two to three years. Once he goes to an even more limited schedule, the hope within WWE is that he will still be able to make special appearances for big events like WrestleMania.

So I'm guessing, going off this, it'll get to the point where every January, someone will call him out, want to break the streak, they'll feud for a few months, he'll win then vanish for most of the year.  It looks like there won't be an official retirement for a long time.

An ace in the hole for Mania

Might work - but i get the feeling it would only take a couple of years for that to get really annoying...

Maybe have him appear for the big 4 ppv's each year

I always associate him with Survivor Series more than anything else, just after Halloween, the dark nights, its the time for Buried Alive and Casket matches.

According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, The Undertaker vs. John Cena is one of the planned main-event’s for WrestleMania 26. The groundwork for the match could have been set on this past Monday’s RAW when Cena received a tombstone after the main-event match had ended.

With the right build-up it could be good, would the dreaded Cena end the streak though?

He doesn't have to beat him, you just have to believe he can. All logic said that HBK wouldn't beat Undertaker, but the build up was brilliant and the match was going back and forth so much.... you started to believe it could happen.

I don't think Cena would beat Taker as there doesn't seem a point to it unless it was Taker's last Mania. But if one guy would be given the nod i'd have thought that Cena and Orton would be high on the list

- A lot of people within WWE are still wondering if The Undertaker’s last match will be at WrestleMania 26 this year. Taker is said to be in real bad shape right now and a lot of people are privately wondering how long he will last.

Could that be why he is facing Michaels again, and for the title (assuming things go as they've been hinted at), does he want to go out Champion and against his greatest WM Opponent ever?

It would be cool if it he could make it to at least Survivor Series this year, since he would have been in the company for 20 years, but if he isn't in great shape, I guess finishing at WM is perhaps the best option. That's if what the reports are saying is true of course.... Wrestling news sites aren't exactly known for their accuracy....

I'd like it to be Cena, I like the old tradition of the biggest two stars of the shows going head to head.

I think Micheals and Taker already have a legacy of awesome matches from Ground Zero, Hell In A Cell, Royal Rumble 98, Wrestlemania 2009.

There is zero chance it can ever live up to expectations and will only leave a one match too many notion.

I hope it doesn't involve Batista either...

- Kurt Angle on how he almost ended Undertaker's streak back at WrestleMania 22:

"It was considered back in 2006. The person who wanted to do it was Undertaker himself. I was flattered, for him to go to Vince McMahon and pitch it. Undertaker at that point never had a five-star Wrestlemania moment match. He figured that the only one he could do it was me, at the time. Thank God a couple of years later he had Shawn Michaels, and it worked. But Undertaker really wanted to have that match, he asked Vince to push our match back from No Way Out to WrestleMania and, since I was champion they wanted me to keep the title, Undertaker was willing to take the loss. To me that meant a lot because Undertaker had a lot of respect for me - and I had more respect for him than he did for me."
