Need Help Catching up on WWE Matches/PPVS
« on: January 31, 2012, 06:01:41 am »
Didn't see a thread like this, if i made a mistake in posting a new thread i apologize.

Hey guys, been out of wrestling for quite sometime. I was High_times(maybe obvious but i dont know) and played some wwe game and discussed some wwe some years ago on htgth and here. Now that i'm back, sober, and better than ever i'm going to be going through some of the last 2 years of wwe ppvs. Was wondering if there any matches, besides wrestlemanias and rumbles, that stick out for you and could be worth checking out?

I know i'm asking sort of a general question thats very broad so i don't expect people to list out every great match but if there are any ppvs that stand out as good ones or matches that stood out as worth checking out that I missed please let me know. If there are any really bad ones queue me in on those too. Any response is welcome. Including those that just yell at me to go read the ppv threads(im lazy, help a guy out)Thanks. Glad to see the board is still here!  :smoking:

Hi man, welcome back!

If we're talking PPVs or matches from the last two years, the first that springs to mind is Money In The Bank 2011. Basically, the whole show was great. 8) CM Punk in his hometown against John Cena, Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio winning two very good MITB Matches, Christian winning the World Title after being kicked in the nuts.... great show!

I know you said shows besides WM and Rumbles, but definitely watch HHH/Undertaker from WM27. The show as a whole wasn't one of the classic Wrestlemanias, but definitely watch that one!

My memory is pretty crap, but Extreme Rules 2011 apparently got pretty good reviews too. Christian won the World Title for the first time at that show, in a Ladder Match against Del Rio (though he did lose it on the following Smackdown :P).

Last year's Summerslam was pretty good too, with a great No Holds Barred Match between Christian and Randy Orton as well as a rematch between CM Punk and John Cena to determine the Undisputed WWE Champion.

I'd also recommend Vengeance from last year too, if only for the spectacle of seeing Big Show and Mark Henry destroy the ring and Alberto Del Rio and John Cena follow it up with a great Last Man Standing Match, starting in the destroyed ring.

These are the ones that I'd go for, others opinions may vary. As for 'avoid', well, I remember the crowd at the Capitol Punishment PPV last year being pretty dead for most of it and it hurt the event. Hell, even Alex Riley who's from Washington DC (where it was held) and was involved in a fairly major feud with The Miz at the time was struggling to get them to make any noise... :undecided:

Thanks for the reply!

I said besides wm and rumbles because ive seen those. The Rumble is my all time favorite ppv so even when im not watching wrestling i catch it. And getting together to watch wrestlemania has been a tradition with my friends. Its kinda like the superbowl. An excuse to party and get together and watch wrestling even if you dont watch it anymore. I have a friend who hasn't watched any ppv besides wrestlemania for the last 7 or 8 years.

The HHH/Taker match was good and I do agree that the whole wrestlemania wasn't a classic.

I will definetly check out some of your suggestions over the next couple of weeks so thanks for those. I'm debating on watching whole ppvs or just checking out individual matches but I will definetly check out the entire Money in the Bank '11. Always liked that match. :smoking:

You know after a loooooong work day and just about to go to bed I decided to reread your suggestions because i was going to look into getting some of the ppvs you mentioned. Just reading about it again i just realized my dumbass actually watched it back in august.  :hihi: I guess just a complete brain fart. I even commented on it on the htgth wrestling thread about how much i liked it and how i was going to watch summerslam(which i didn't). Crazy. I hardly remember it so im gonna watch it again. I just thought my idiocy was funny.  :hihi: :smoking:

Watched Extreme Rules from last year. I liked that ppv. Almost all the matches were good and it was great to see Christian win. If anybody skipped it i would suggest checking it out if you can. I thought it was a pretty good ppv.

Gonna rewatch money in the bank and than prolly watch summerslam this week.  :smoking:
