Iron Maiden
« on: January 05, 2010, 08:40:37 pm »
Eddie Trunk has issued a new blog update whcih includes an update on Iron Maiden courtesy of drummer Nicko McBrain:

"Got a call from Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain last night (January 1st). Nicko just opened a new restaurant in Florida called Rock & Roll Ribs. Said it's gone well and he is planning an official grand opening soon. Nicko also told me Maiden are headed into the studio in a couple weeks to start work on a new CD. He said there was about eight songs written so far so the band would probably need to come up with a few more new songs while recording. Said the material was a little different than past albums and they were taking their time with the recording schedule. New CD probably won't come out until 2011 however a good chance of some Maiden live shows over the summer. I'll keep you posted as I learn more and can share. Nicko will be coming on the radio shows soon to update us on all fronts. Always fun to talk with him, real good guy."

Stay tuned for updates.

As previously reported, Iron Maiden have been confirmed for the 2010 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, scheduled for August 5th - 7th in Wacken, Germany.

Comments Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris: “We had a fantastic time playing at Wacken last year so when we decided to play a few festivals in Europe next Summer it seemed a great idea to return. What could be better in Germany than to play again to the 75,000 true metalheads who go to Wacken!“

Shame its going to be awhile, always good to have a new album, they always strongly support their new albums in their live shows often playing them in full.  I've liked pretty much all their albums except for the odd one (Dance of Death) and I've seen them live once.  Favourite album is probably Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Infinite Dreams off that album is a masterpiece!

Any other fans?

I've got their first album and The Number Of The Beast, as well as the song 2 Minutes To Midnight (GTA to the rescue once again :D), but never gone any further than that.

Love The Prisoner from TNOTB, and Strange World from their debut is a classic too IMO.

IRON MAIDEN Manager ROD SMALLWOOD has issued the following update: "l regularly undertake bike rides to raise funds for charity - the last one was Peru in November 2007 and prior to that I did rides in Kenya, Egypt, Russia, China and Vietnam/Cambodia. The 08-09 touring with Maiden restricted me the last couple of years so this time I have gone a step further organising one myself on behalf of Childline (www.childline.org.uk) and Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy (www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk). We are going, appropriately enough, back to Egypt, January 21st to 25th! This may not be ideal timing with all the snow recently making it tough to train but it will be a busy Maiden year after this with a new album later this year and some big shows in the summer."

IRON MAIDEN frontman BRUCE DICKINSON  slipped and fell on stage at the start of the band's August 8th Sonisphere Finland dates, where earlier a severe thunderstorm hit the music festival injuring dozens and damaging the equipment of several bands. Fan-filmed footage of Bruce's fall can be seen below:
