Re-Invent a WWE Superstar
« on: July 29, 2009, 01:35:42 pm »
Chris Jericho has managed to change himself late in his career and had a great run.  A new kind of heel, not the fun cocky one he was, he is arrogant, serious and hates pretty much everyone, the new ring gear, finisher, hair cut, dropping his famous catchphrases, not many could do this and get away with it.

Undertaker was sort of successful doing it as the American Bad Ass but eventually people grew tired of it and wanted the old Undertaker back.

So the question is who would you "Re-Invent" or repackage and how?

Would you break JTG away from Shad and turn him heel and reveal JTG stands for John Thomas Goodwinn and he is actually a well spoken rich businessman who has just been pretending to be "Hip".  Or is that too Bradshaw to JBL?

What about Shawn Michaels?  Is he too old to have the "Sexy Boy" entrance theme?  Or would it be a crime to get rid of it?  With him going bold does he need a haircut?  Or should he remain as is, could they even pull off a character change at this point in his career?

How long has Triple H been "The Game"?  Myself I'm bored of it, as a "Mcmahon Family Member", could you Mcmahonize him?

Should Kane get burned again?

Does John Cena need to turn heel and get proper ring attire and reveal he has wrestling skills and...moves.  Drop the 5 Knuckle Shuffle, completely stiff the fans, its a merchandise killer but it'd be a hell of a lot of fun.

Will MVP ever ditch the Power Ranger gear?  Maybe he could find "God" and become an evil preacher.

So who do you want to Re-Invent/Repackage and how?

I think masked Kane should make a comeback. I was watching the KOTR '98 First Blood Match with Austin the other day and Kane in his original run seemed like a cool character. Though now that we've seen his face (I know people had seen Glen Jacobs's face before he debuted as Kane but let's pretend Isaac Yanken was someone else... :P), will a masked Kane still have the same effect.

Heel Cena would be awesome, though perhaps he should keep the 5-Knuckle Shuffle and use it to end matches. :D He hits the Attitude Adjustment/FU, then rather than going for the cover, does the 5KS to end it and rub it in.

I could see Shad as a believable heel big man. They wouldn't have to change his character that much, perhaps make him a little bit more.... refined, but it could work.

And it may not be a reinvention as such, but Finlay should go back to his more serious, "I love to fight" character. 8)

Hair cut and shave HHH and make him wear suits, with the Lack of Main Event Heels besides RKO and Edge (injured) I would play up the McMahon Angle 100%
HHH. Hunter - Hearst- Honorable McMahon. Play up how hes a big shot in the business, play how he can control and run things because of his alliance, He could overnight have fueds with Cena, Bastita when he gets back, Get tired of that Heel HHH could go to SD and clean it up and turn it Profitable for Father in Law by wipping Hardy and Punks Face Ass. Then for fun it could beat down Dreamer and make Dreamer Kiss his ass to keep his job,  I mean really turn HHH into the Ultra Heel for all 3 brands, Forget him being the Game, make him the GAMEMASTER.
Make him out to be the man looking out for Vinces best interest on all 3 brands. He could be the answer to the Heel on any show.

--Sorry to say seeing a Face weilding a Sledgehammer is hard to believe but as the Business Man HHH he could use it to keep business rolling.

Ted Dibiase Jr.  I know everyone wants to see him in a Face Role. I would love to see him be the Rich Son of a Rich Buisiness Man and be lead into a main eventer Status anything to get him away from being just and RKO lackey I want would love to see him more like Ted Sr then like his current character basically he's virgil just a lackey for RKO with no respect of his own.

Turn M.V.P. back to his 'highest payed athlete' heel role. As a face, Montel has nothing to offer WWE in 2009.

Make Finlay, a cool tweener, back to his old fighting ways and give him cool Irish music like Sheamus.

I'll post more in depth ones later when I get time.

Keep HHH a face. I hate the serious monotone HHH who slow prods through matches and does the same **** week after week. Ohh wait thats Randy Orton too.

I like HHH better when he is light. As in his attitude. I like his stupid jokes on the mic. I think you can tell he has more fun doing that. He puts more energy into his promos and they come off better. I loved the beginning of the Seth Green raw because thats the trips I like now. Thats the HHH i want to see when hes cutting promos.  I'm sick of the Heel HHH and sick and tired of the serious HHH. I like the fun-hearted lite HHH. Now he just needs to move a little bit faster in the ring. He did that this past weekend at Night of Champions and I actually enjoyed that match, surprisingly. :smoking:

Kane - frankly I'd just fire him and get another 'Kane'...one that isnt fat....

Cena needs to go heel and get a gimmick - the rapper thing was daft but atleast it was something! Maybe an NWO Hogan style thing - turning on the fans who boo him despite all his done, could get plenty of shots of 10 year olds crying in the audience :hihi:

Jeff Hardy - i want a heel turn! I want to see an insane Hardy, the victim of one to many stunts - his face paint puts him as the visual successor to Sting - go with it, have him appear from nowhere, a man beyond the edge hell bent on killing himself off

Edge - face turn! The rated R superstar doesnt work on a PG show - time for him to be a face

Triple H needs a new entrance, music and he only works as a heel, time for a new faction and he takes over the family business...

Shaun Michaels - no more sexy boy - the crazy Wrestlemania preacher was fantastic, he's a Christian nut job - lets have him as on screen Christian nut job and (obvioulsy) a heel

Undertaker heel turn - evil Taker! I want him sacrificing Stephanie and burning holes through rings, claim souls, the whole works!

...now I've had a lot of heel turns here - but I see people like Morrison, Ziggler, Dibiase, Batista, Edge and MVP taking up the 'face' positions.

We have pretty much had one set up, the plan is obviously for him to return and feud with Jericho, his I'm injured promo but I will return was pure babyface while Jericho mocked him obviously taking the heel role, these two at Wrestlemania 26, now that would be great!

Attitudize, Kofi Kingston.  Rasta Drug Dealer! Ya Man!  :smoking:

WWE hasn't had a good racially insensitive gimmick in days, time for a new one, even the horrendous cryme time gimmick isn't nearly so racist since they stopped selling stolen tickts....

NOOOOOO! Edge is the greatest heel in the industry today. A face turn is a horrible mistake. I do agree that having a rated-R superstar on a tv-pg show seems a little off. However, he plays his part as a heel perfectly. The last thing that should be done is turning the best heel anybody has into a face. Eventually yes, but it is way too soon. The guy is still fresh as a heel. And is damn good at his job. :smoking:

Way too soon?  He has been a heel for how many years now?

Why wait until he does get stale?  He has exhausted most feuds with babyfaces, its time to change things up and having him return vs. Jericho will lead to a classic feud and 'Mania match 4sure.

Love edge as a heel, but I think Edge (face) Vs. Jericho (Heel) could be the main eventers on SD

Gimmicks, are you serious change them you say? Well I happen to agree with everyone on this thread it is time to change some gimmicks and here are some gimmicks I think need to be change in a major way.

1. Triple H- The dude is in his 40's now and I think he should be come like the evil son in law of Vince. Have Triple H go bad and Vince decide to "mold" him into the next CEO of the WWE.

2. The Miz- I am sorry I don't get nor do I understand just what in the name of God Almighty is a Miz. Does he even have a gimmick? Every time I see him wrestle I about fall asleep from boredom, and now that WWE has supposedly took him off the air they should come up with something ten times better.

3. Edge- They have already hinted to the fact that Edge was going to come back as a Face, so I would suggest that they let him go back to his old gimmick when he was team up with Christian.

4. Matt Hardy- I have a good question here, does he even have a gimmick?

5. John Cena- I am tired of the black dude trap in a white man's body, we have Slam Master J so I think it is time for Cena to drop the wigga act, and get a more serious gimmick.

6. Kane- They need to reinvented Kane like the Undertaker does keeping his gimmick fresh but with a different layer to it.

7. MVP- I agree the power ranger outfits need to go I would keep the MVP gimmick but put him in a suite and tie, and what do you get "The Black Nature Boy" that gimmick would be off the hook!

8. Randy Orton- I think it is time for him to do something beside having an ego trip gimmick, maybe a Natural Gimmick like Dustin Rhodes did back in the 90's would do wonders for Orton.

9. GoldDust- Yeah I know this gimmick is the only gimmick that power old Dustin can do but I think it is time for him to shift gears and become the "New America Dream" Dustin Rhodes the son of the son of a plumber!

10. The Great Kahila- I would just get rid of him all together.

I could go on because the whole WWE is in need of a gimmick change all together!
My heart burns with a desire as it screams out for me to show you the error of your ways, and set you on the path of Righteousness!

^Cena hasn't really done the rapping thing for quite a few years now. He is capable of giving a serious promo IMO, it's just that he's mostly marketed to the kids. A Jericho-esque heel turn into a more serious character would be good, though that's already been done by..... well, Jericho. :P

I agree that HHH and Orton could maybe do with a change. Though I think a HHH gimmick change would come off better than an Orton one. What other role could Orton pull off? I think it was Hammy who said recently that a face run probably wouldn't work because he's not a likeable kinda guy.

Yeah to mention Cena's "Wigger" gimmick, it was phased out when they pushed him to the top...
