12 of the best (put yourself in charge)

Ok we always talk about "Golden Era".

Lets assume that all wrestlers that ever walked the earth are still in their prime e.g. Bret is wrestling mid 90's. You can have 6 top wrestlers on RAW and 6 on SD. Who would you pick and who would be Face and Who would be Heel? It can be based on anything from personal marks to "business logic" to in-ring excitment. Only stipulation is they have to have wrestled in WWF/E.

Here's how i'd do it:

RAW:

Austin (Face) - Austin on RAW as the biggest Face just seems right.
Hogan (Heel) - I know most see Hogan as a Face but watching Hammy's WCW/NWO clips i realised how good he was as a Heel. I'd imagine he would be the leader with a group of Lackeys with Vince probally on his side.
HHH (Heel) - I still think that HHH is one of the greatest Heels ever. At his peak he was simply brilliant. Him & HBK as a Heel DX causing trouble everywhere.
HBK (Heel)  - Same as HHH, Brilliant on the mic and him and HHH as a Heel DX would be brilliant.
Savage (Face) - I was debating Warrior and Million Dollar Man, but wnet for Savage as i belive he was brilliant as a face. Savage vs HBK would be Brilliant i think.
RVD (FAce) - To me RVD is still one of the most exciting guys to step into the ring. He deserved more than he got out of wrestling.

SD
-----

Bret Hart (Face) - The Best Face Ever IMO, Great Wrestler, Great Talker.... Well the best there ever was ;)
The Rock (Face) - I debated whether Rock should be Heel but when he was Face and had the mic the fans were so behind him that swayed me.
Undertaker (Heel) - I've always though that Undertakers best work came as a Heel, Probally the best Gimmick ever in WWF/E. Him with some demonic lackeys and you have some bloody good TV.
Flair (Heel) - The ultimate Heel, out for himself but can cut a brilliant promo. I'd have him and Perfect as businees acciocates.
Mr Perfect (Heel) - One of my all-time favourites loved the cockiness loved his wrestling ability and his promos. Him and Flair as loose partners would be brilliant.
Kurt Angle (Heel) - Everything he did was brilliant. He could wrestle, Talk, make you laugh, tell a story.

Now i'd pay to watch both of those shows!

Yeah. You could put Naked Mideion in there if you wish. But this is your chance to create the ultimate golden era. So pulling that trigger could mae the fans literally pull the trigger.... and kill you.

If you think that Billy Gunn could have been one of the greatest twelve main eventers ever..... just don't expect me to watch ;D

My knowledge of 1980s/early 1990s WWF probably isn't as great as others here. I've seen matches and PPVs from that time but I might leave out what may be obvious choices from that time....

Raw

1: Steve Ausatin (face) - same reason as above, really.
2: Chris Jericho (face) - he's good as a heel, but dammit, he's great as a good guy too!
3: Hulk Hogan (heel) - again, as above, nWo Hogan from what I've seen so far was a great arrogant bad guy. And he played that role in the WWE for about a month in 2002, so I guess it counts ;D
4: Mick Foley (face) - as any of his multiple personas. He seemed like a better heel in ECW than the WWE.
5: Shawn Michaels (heel) - I'd have a cocky, DX-era Michaels on the show, but perhaps keep HHH on SD. I reckon Michaels could manage that kind of role on his own.
6: The Undertaker (heel) - specifically the 2002 heel Bikertaker. I liked that character. It was like he was saying "I've been here over 10 years, give me the respect I deserve or I'll kick your ass". ;D

SD

1: Kurt Angle (heel) - before the ultra-serious (bald), gumshield-wearing Angle of his later WWE career, he was great back in the early 2000s as a heel. I've always preferred the more light-hearted Angle (the one who sang country songs with Steve Austin :hihi:) over the times when he's been more serious.
2: Kane (heel) - 1998 heel Kane was badass. 'Nuff said. 8)
3: Bret Hart (heel) - I haven't seen much of his anti-American heel character (actually, I really haven't watched a lot of his whole career...) but I reckon that deserves a place on this imaginary show.
4: The Rock (face) - It's The Rock! As a face!!
5: Chris Benoit (face) - well, before June of 2007, the guy was great and was capable of having a great match with most of the people he was in the ring with. I liked the simple, 'let the actions do the talking' character he had and I think people did genuinely care about him. Face Benoit VS. heel Bret Hart? :smoking: If Benoit is disqualified, let's replace him with a face RVD. And hope he doesn't get busted for drugs again....
6: Eddie Guerrero (face) - another guy from fairly recent times, but he was definitely over with the "lie, cheat and steal" gimmick. There's a few guys I've left out (HHH, Flair etc.) I would've liked but I'll give Eddie the nod here. :)

RAW:

Randy Savage (face) - If anyone wrestler was ever the very definition of RAW, then its Savage, his promo skills and his wrestling in his prime are second to none, he was intense and all over the place and you didn't know quite how crazy he was and his match quality with guys like Hogan and Warrior is legendary.

Hulk Hogan (face) - The biggest draw of all time, its smart business sense, and in his prime he could work good matches with great crowd responses.

Roddy Piper (face) - Since I'm treating RAW as the entertainment brand you need one of the all time great talkers like Piper, listening to his interview on Monday Night Mayhem reminded me of how great a talker he is, and paired up with Savage and Hogan in some 6-Man Main Events would be...WOW!

Ted Dibiase (heel) - One of the best never to win the WWF Title, he could talk the talk and walk the walk, a feud with him and Savage over the course of the year rather than just some tournament final would be a must!

Jake Roberts (heel) - One of the darkest guys of all time in and out of the ring.  His feud with Savage was greatly underated and he could take that kind of evil, and those fantastic promos of his to get a headlining bout with Hogan.

Chris Jericho (heel) - The recent Jericho vs. Rourke feud just reminded you of how cool seeing guys like Piper in their prime vs. Jericho would have been, well in this fantasy, it happens, the build-up alone would be spectacular before you even go to the match.

Smackdown:

Bret Hart (face) - Being the wrestling brand, Bret Hart has to be at the forefront of the babyface line-up, there aren't many Bret couldn't get a good match out of, and those he couldn't weren't really worth bothering with.

Diamond Dallas Page (face) - Self High Five!  Yes I'm watching too much WCW at the moment, this guy is quality though and his finisher alone is priceless, I'll never get bored of seeing the Diamond Cutter, I think guys like Michaels could have got some really good matches out of him.

B. A. Billy Gunn (face) - He'd get over as a Main Eventer, I'd book him to perfection.  Gunn vs. Perfect, would be Perfection!

Kurt Angle (heel) - Kurt vs. Bret is one of those dream matches fans would never get, maybe its a good thing because how could it ever live up to expectations, Angle is great in his role as a heel and the way he works through injuries is testament to how he is prepared to doing anything and everything to have the best possible matches.

Mr. Perfect (heel) - On the Smackdown, wrestling brand, many a Main Event would feature tag matches teaming Perfect and Angle together, that in itself is a dream pairing.

Shawn Michaels (heel) - Michaels is my favourite wrestler and all my best memories for the most part are of his heel runs, that is where the guy really excels.

^He, Mabel and Shamrock could form a "Pointless King Of The Ring Winners" stable and wreak midcard havoc~!

:P

10 years ago he was going against The Rock at Summerslam, things were looking good then.

And I think Kenny could of had a Main Event run, in his time he was super over, although in his time everyone was over, still, he had a few chances, title shot vs. Michaels, feuds with 'Taker and The Rock, he kind of went out quietly against Blackman though  :(

As for Mabel, considering Undertaker, Lex Luger and Shawn Michaels were also in the tournament that one always leave me baffled, that is seriously the worst PPV EVER, it can't be beaten.

I mean which moron put Tatanka in the Main Event?  I was too young to get on the booking committee back then so it wasn't me  8)

Raw:

Hogan(face): No reason needs to be given.

Barry Windham(heel): Totally squandered during his WWF runs. Make the most of it this time.

King Kong Bundy(heel): Lots of potential in a Hogan-Bundy feud. Let him go on a run where he's invincible before pitting him against Hogan.

Ricky Steamboat(face): One of the greatest wrestlers of all time, so I have to include him. A feud with Bundy over the IC title would be killer.

Dr. D David Schultz(heel): This guy hated Hogan in real life, and supposedly went after him to kick his teeth in. Always wanted to hear more about that. He should write a book. Include him just to make Hogan squirm and wonder if he'll sell that Granny leg drop again.

Roddy Piper(heel): Not a big fan, but like Hammy said he was great during skits/promos.

Smackdown:

Bret Hart(face): Will be in the Hogan role on this brand.

Randy Savage(heel): Other than Flair, the greatest heel of all time. No one can top that 85-87 run in WWF. In a perfect world he would have won the belt from Hogan in 86.

Ric Flair(face/heel): Need I say more?

Honkeytonk Man(heel): I absolutely hate this guy, but is probably one of the greatest heels in wrestling history. No one can bring as much heat as when its time for people to hear the Honkeytonk Man sing.

Junkyard Dog(face): Not even close to my favorite, but crowds loved this guy. Include him.

Shawn Michaels(face): Only current wrestler who is semi original and worthy of being mixed in with some of the greats. I don't need The Rock on my list because he's a Ric Flair/Boogie Woogie Man ripoff. Don't need Austin because he was Hogan version 2.0 with attitude. Don't need HHH because he's just a 21st century version of Flair.
I have wined and dined with kings and queens, and I've slept in alleys and dined on pork and beans.

RAW:

Hogan: (Face) I know he rolled pretty good as a Heel Hollywood, but when you grew up and were force fed his greatest and he got you convinced to eat your vitamins.

Macho King (Heel) Loved him as a Face, but when he turned on Hogan, I think he was a heartbreaker back then and seeing Macho Get a chance to be bad is what made hogan want the chance in the NWO. (Macho King Vs Ultimate Warrior career ending match) WATCH IT.

The Rock (Heel/Face) Hard to really call him a heel, even when he was the bad guy the fans went nuts for him. I liked him better as a heel as his inring promos seemed to be little nasiter.

Curt Hennig (Heel) Mr Perfect, IMO best wrestler/in ring promo main event guy to never be world Champion. Fued with Texas Tornado was Classic, Loved his cockyness, entrance and the Perfectplex.

Chris Jericho (Face) I prefer him to be a face, but still keep that cockiness trash talking that he is doing now, Vince picked him to make him the unified champion to carry the company he must of trusted the man

TAG TEAM: Demolition (Heel) Any list or wrestling or shows need a Tag Team and Im rolling with Demolition, I prefer the era when they added Crush, just wish AX wasnt in such bad shape, I liked the Freebird style of any 2 of them could defend.

Smackdown:

Bret "Hitman" Hart (Face) He was good as both but his greatest raising from an IC Champ to World Champ he grew up before the fans they seen a tag team guy go solo, midcard title and become world champion, Vince should be taking notes thats how you run a company.

Owen **** Hart: (Heel) This man was so underated, He made EVERYONE and I mean Everyone look good in a tag team with him. His fued with Bret was a Classic, (Owen Vs Bret opening WM with Hart rolling up Bret) WATCH IT.

Andre The Giant (HeeL) I want the Heel WM 3 era Andre but I want him to have the body and strenght of the 1970's Andre

Stone Cold Steve AUstion (Ringmaster) You know for them 2 weeks when Million Dollar Man managed him and he wore the $$$ Belt. No? Ok (Heel) Same problem as Rock even when he was with vince talking bad the fans still loved him, He put the attitude into the Attitude Era.

Undertaker (Face) Any era of the Undertaker would be great. Enjoyed Pall Bear and the Urn.

TAG Team: Bulldogs, (Face) Good inring skills and since I have Bret as a singles guy I would roll with them as a Face to Fued with Demolition
