Would TNA benefit from going Live?
« on: September 12, 2009, 06:15:04 pm »
I know people say that a lot of fans don't use the net/read spoilers, but I still think that feeling watching a show, knowing anything could have gives it that special feel when you watch it.

I thought of this after watching a docu recently and Bischoff said in the Monday Night Wars they talked to "Targets groups" and found out wrestling fans like most - live shows coupled with surprises and an anything can happen feel, like on Nitro new guys showing up/invading all the time.

Its like with the coming debuts of Kennedy and Umaga (assuming they sign) on a live episode as a huge surprise I think it might have that really cool "Impact".

Thoughts?

We read spoilers and know a librarys worth about wrestling...

Live wouldnt make any difference to us - any new joiners wont be a surprise as by the time they appear we'll know even their contract details...

I dont really like 'live' - its so absurdly contrived...the way shows end exactly to the second they should...

With pre taped so many of the contrived things go away - of course it finishes on time, its been edited to do so

Ah but it can be booked to have that "Live" feel.

Nitro was.  The "We are out of time here", "We have to cut to a break, if the match finishes during the break we'll show you the conclusion when we return", everyones different but for me I just like watching live shows, companies have proven in recent years they can still pull off surprises when they really try.

TNA did one live show a while back and it felt rushed - WWE has such technical ability they can make it work

...on the cheap it kinda feels like a school play
