Move Over Hunter?
« on: September 25, 2009, 06:43:46 pm »
................................so says Chris Jericho.  Has he got a point.  Seems a pretty good argument to me.

CHRIS JERICHO has urged WWE boss Vince McMahon to ditch the company's old guard in favour of promoting new talent.

Despite himself being a 19 year-veteran, the 38-year-old Canadian claims the world's leading wrestling promotion is in danger of going stale if the likes of Triple H, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels continue to dominate the spotlight.

Jericho insists rising stars like Legacy, Morrison and Jack Swagger can safeguard the long-term future of the company if McMahon gives them the opportunity to do so.

Former world heavyweight champion Jericho said: "Creating new talent, creating new stars, that's the most important thing for any of the brands to do.

"They have to keep the wheels turning — they can't just base it on the same guys year in and year out. That's how business fails — that's how WCW failed."

Speaking to Slam Wrestling he added: "We have some young guys that are ready to grasp it and there are other guys that aren't. They're going to have to speed up the process a bit.

"I think that Morrison is learning more each week, I think Dolph Ziggler is learning more each week, Cryme Tyme have learned a lot over the last few months.

"Legacy is getting there, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and The Miz — those are the guys that are going to have to start becoming more of a presence.

"A couple of guys in ECW, like Evan Bourne... Sheamus is another guy that I think has some potential.

"So now is the time, we need these guys to step up. But some guys just aren't capable — they're not ready because they don't have the experience yet.

"But as long they are improving every week, those are guys that I kind of see as being the next wave of the company when my generation of guys is retired or not at the same level as we are now."

Nice find.

Its refreshing to have someone in the company speak the truth and not being afraid about being punished for it.

He's got a good point.

Except Jericho is still relevant and has the ability to adapt himself with time.

I think Jericho included himself in that but also, Jericho hasn't been on top that long and is the consumate pro at putting others over.

I wish he'd shut the hell up though till next WWE game.

I totally agree with Jericho. just go look at the previous 6 wrestlemania's and have a look at the horrible lack of variety in the Title matches. In the last 6 Mania's there is 28 world title match spots and here's the breakdown:

HHH -  5
Cena - 5
Orton - 3
Edge - 2
HBK - 2
Undertaker - 2
Batista - 2 (Injured for two of the 6 manias)
Angle - 2
Big show - 1
JBL - 1
Eddie - 1
Rey - 1
Benoit - 1

Obviously Cena & HHH dominate but the other names on the list are guys that. I mean two of the guys on that list are dead, one is retired and one is with the rival company. So that leaves 9 guys on the current roster including Rey & Big Show who i couldn't imagine as champion again in the near future. So you're left with 7 (HHH, Cena, Taker, Batista, Edge, HBK & Orton) now you can probally add CM Punk & Jericho to that list but where is the future?

I mean would anyone bet against both title matches at the next Mania coming from that pool of 7 guys (HHH, Cena, Taker, Batista, Edge, HBK & Orton). Coz i wouldn't.

This is how it works, You're young until you're not
You love until you don't, You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry, You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe, Until their dying breath
