TNA have fired veteran tag team The Nasty Boys, just a few short months after signing them.

Both prowrestling.net and HonkyTonkMan.net are reporting the duo of Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags have been let go by Dixie Carter's company.

Rumour has it that Knobbs has been ruffling feathers backstage and upset some Spike TV bigwigs recently.

These incidents, fan criticism of their matches and Eric Bischoff's recent cutting Twitter comments led to a distinct lack of interest in TNA utilising the pairing again.

The Nasty Boys were big stars in WCW and WWE in their prime and regularly toured the world battering opponents with their trademark unforgiving and stiff wrestling style.

But entering TNA in 2010, thanks to their friendship with Hulk Hogan, the duo were overweight, out of condition and frequently out of breath.

Though their behind-the-scenes ransackings and sneak attacks were fun to watch, subsequent in-ring appearances were pitiful.

The team who tore the house down with such combos as The Steiners, Money Inc, Sky Scrapers, Four Horsemen, Hart Foundation and The Road Warriors over the years were a poor shadow of their former selves.

TNA fans jeered when they arrived and will surely cheer when they go.

One man who will be missed though is Consequences Creed, who was also released this week.

The enthusiastic up-and-coming young grappler, the former tag team partner of Jay Lethal, was one of the company's rising stars but hadn't been used on TV or PPV in months.

Interesting to see even Hogan's good friends can go if they **** off the wrong people, they probably thought they were untouchable.

Brian Knobbs of the Nasty Boys tag team says he hasn't heard officially from TNA that the Nastys have been released by TNA and he feels the team is "in limbo" with the company.

"Right now, no one has contacted me or Saggs. No one from TNA. I have talked to Hogan, and he has not verified whether we are not," Knobbs said on the Monday Night Mayhem radio show last night. "Supposedly, we are still with TNA. Nobody hasn't told us anything yet."

The Nastys were reportedly released from TNA at the end of March, with TNA confirming their release. Apparently TNA has not contacted the Nastys were let them know they're gone.

Knobbs said they came to TNA per Hulk Hogan's request to help get recognizable names on Impact at the beginning of the year. Knobbs also talked up the "dream match" with Team 3D that was really only a dream match in the minds of a handful of people.

"Hulk asked me & Saggs, we did not ask to come to TNA. Hulk asked us to come help him out, and that's what we were doing. We were coming to help him out," Knobbs said. "We never went against Team 3-D, and it was like a legendary match-up made in heaven, since they're crazy, and we're crazy. So we loved it, and said, 'Sure we'll come help.'"

Knobbs also claimed WWE contacted the Nastys about possibly joining WWE for a program before they debuted with TNA on January 4.

"We got contacted back in January. They called me and left a message to call them back, and they wanted to see what our status was in TNA. It was short & sweet, and they left a number, but I never did call it," he said. "I told Hogan they called us, and he said we should check it out, but I said right now, we're down here, and our loyalty is our loyalty."

Of course it can. Mcmahon buys the competition. He could have put The Nasty Boys on a salary just to sit on their ass and not let TNA grab them. They went to TNA instead, got the shaft, and now Mcmahon has no use for them as the smaller company didn't even want them.

He should have called Mcmahon instead. Would have had a steady paycheck.

Doubt it WWE know what a joke they are, and turned them down flat after a horrendous tryout match a few years ago, why sign them when they after more useful to Vince polluting TNA....

Maybe they haven't gone after all.
