Notable Wrestlemania 27 Absences
« on: March 29, 2011, 03:36:24 pm »
Kofi Kingston - Remember when this guy was feuding with Randy Orton and being booked to look strong against him (until the end of the feud).  When people thought he was on the cusp of the Main Event, and now he can't even make it onto the 'Mania 27 card.

Drew McIntyre - Given the gimmick of being "The Chosen One" by Vince McMahon, a favourite to win MITB a few times, people thought rightly or wrongly he'd have been given a World Title run by now.  And now? His last match was essentially a squash loss against Edge, have creative given up on him?

Beth Phoenix - Her return has been weird, she seems to appear on Smackdown once every 3 weeks, its like WWE have forgotten what to do with her, and with Awesome Kong set to debut this year, could she be a surprise release?

Ted DiBiase - Based on the last 6 months its NOT surprising.  But based on 12 months ago.  When the 3 Legacy members were on the card, and now he's a glorified jobber, but for his dad surely he would have been fired by now.

Others - Mark Henry, R-Truth.  Guys who have been around for awhile and normally gets MITB spots, R-Truth was in the Elimination Chamber, maybe not completely shocking with the youth movement going at the moment.

Anyone else?  Why do you think these guys have missed out, will they make it onto next years card?

That's quite a list of absentees isn't it?  I think the biggest misses are Kofi, Drew and Beth.  It's a shame there isn't gonna be a MITB match so they would at least have had a WM moment.  Evan Bourne could have been up for a great spot in that.  And why is there no Diva title match?

Well in the end Kofi did make it.  But Sheamus and Daniel Bryan ended up on the scrap heap, that's quite the fall for Sheamus.  From feuding with Triple H to dark match syndrome.

Unfortunately my hopes of Danielson wrestling in an Iron Match for the World Title at a future Maina are dashed :(.

I doubt there will ever be another Iron Man match at 'Mania, the roster was paper thin back then, I doubt anyone these days would be afforded that chance.

Kingston could still almost be classed as a Wrestlemania absentee, how much screen time did he get?

McIntyre should have been there, disappointing they haven't done more with him...
