Cyber Sunday back?
« on: July 09, 2009, 12:36:01 pm »
PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE changed the "Annihilation" PPV name back to the original "Cyber Sunday" name as many in management did not like the name Annihilation. It is being reported, however, that although the name has been changed back to Cyber Sunday that WWE still has plans to drop the "voting" gimmick for the PPV as it has not gotten over well in the past.

Its not surprising really, the only reason the voting gimmick has never got over that well in the past is because the choices have generally been so predictable.

Choose the match type for the Main Event: Singles, Lumberjack or Hell in a Cell?  Most of the time creative KNOW what will be chosen so they plan ahead, now if they provided people with some really tough choices the concept could work, because in theory its a great idea its just they have never had the balls to risk not knowing what option the fans will choose.

I think part of the problem with the concept is that it's a throw away PPV just before one of the biggest PPVs of the year "Survivor Series".

Their not gonna let fans voting **** up their plans.

WWE introduces a new pay-per-view name, Cyber Sunday kicked to the curb again

WWE has renamed the Oct. 25 pay-per-view event as "Bragging Rights." It was previously listed as "Cyber Sunday," changed to "WWE Annihilation," and changed back to Cyber Sunday before the new name was posted on the live events page today.

That just seems odd for a PPV name.  You just know they are going to abuse the name in promos and on commentary like they used to in the Attitude Era, "Come this sunday I will show you No Mercy" etc.

What a bizarre name. It just doesn't sound like a big wrestling PPV name. I mean: Wrestlemania! Royal Rumble! Summerslam! Unforgiven! Judgment Day! Bragging Rights??

It actually sound like something some indie promotion would come up with...

Whatever happened to Fully Loaded??

It went the way of many class IYH names...lost in the midst of time.

I liked it went they came up with a different one every month, even the stupid ones like  Beware of the Dog.

I also like the idea of using some old WCW ones like Halloween Havoc.
