So we had the Slammys on Raw, but what do
you think's been the best and worst angles, matches, people, events or anything else of 2010? And I know the thing to do is complain about everything the WWE does, but surely y'all can find something positive about it? Good. I'll go first.
YayThe NexusThe Summerslam match aside, and the fact they went through a period where they seemed to lose a member every week, I think the whole Nexus angle is one of the best things the WWE have done for a long time. From their debut when the guys who were just those NXT rookies destroyed the Raw ring, to forcing Cena to join, to Wade Barrett's no-nonsense leader character, it's been original and they seem to have kept it pretty fresh through the months. This 'mutiny' idea is a new interesting twist and I just hope that creative don't suddenly run out of ideas and let the thing go downhill. It would be a shame, since it's been a good angle so far.
The arrival of Alberto Del Rio (but you, you already know that)Little did I know that the Spanish-speaking Dos Caras guy I saw at the WWE show in Glasgow in April would debut a few months later as 'The Essence of Excellence'

. It's been pointed out that he's pretty much a Mexican JBL, but I think I already like him more than JBL. The cars, the personal ring announcer, the pyro, the scarf.... and that's just his entrance.

The fact they had him beat Rey Mysterio clean by submission in his first match suggests that ADR is going to be a main event player in the WWE. I for one, like that idea. Plus, that wink is the right mix of creepy and cool.
Bret meets Shawn (again)Not everything about Bret Hart's return was fantastic (as is discussed below), but I have to say, even though I wasn't watching back in the 90s, knowing the history between Bret and HBK it did feel like a special wrestling moment when Michaels came down the ring on that January 4 episode of Raw. Of course, there were the conspiracy theories that they still actually disliked each other, and I'm not sure how comfortable Bret was about the hug Shawn gave him, but the conversation between them and the handshake was a real and very cool moment.
HHHiatusOK, I don't dislike Triple H, but I'd be lying if I said it was nice to not have him on TV every week since Sheamus repeatedly kicked him in the face and 'put him out of action'. I think we all need a break from the main event guys every once in a while, and unfortunately that often comes because of injury. I expect he'll be back at some point to crush some more people, but maybe it'll be nice to see him again when that time inevitably comes....
Mae Young calls LayCool "****"Usually anything involving Mae Young ia facepalm-inducing stuff (and her 'match' with LayCool did fall into that category) but this was funny. I don't care what anyone says. The reaction from the fans and the announcers just added to it.
NayHitman VS. McMahonI don't really need to go into too much detail here do I? I think we all saw it. Yah. Bret very slowly beating Vinnie Mac up with a chair for half an hour (or at least, that's what it felt like). The segment with Shawn was better....
HBK retiresIt was nice having a break from HHH, but I don't think many of us were happy about Shawn Michaels' departure this year. Obviously if he feels it's time to walk away (it remains the be seen if and when 'Ric Flair syndrome' kicks in) that's his decision but there's no getting away from the fact that WWE lost the guy possibly responsible for more great matches than anyone in history. It's not an easy hole to fill....
He didn't win Jack....I like Jack Swagger, I guess he's WWE's closest thing to Kurt Angle, but his World Heavyweight Title reign wasn't really..... well, good. Hell, it was going wrong for him even before he won it, when he struggled desperately to unhook the MITB briefcase at Wrestlemania. As for the reign itself, I don't even remember that much about it, other than he lost an unusually large number of TV matches (against midcarders like John Morrison) for a World Heavyweight Champion. Hopefully the Swagger Soaring Eagle can hlep put him back on the right track, because I think he could make a decent champion. Not losing every other match would be the best start....
That thing that WWE likes doing to tag teamsThis is nothing new, but it seemed especially noticable this year. WWE breaking up perfectly fine tag teams when it's clear they don't really know what to do with the guys afterward. Now, I've said before that I'm not too fussy one way or the other about tag team wrestling, but being in a tag team can gives guys who have nothing else to do a chance to get on TV. But this year, WWE have broken up Cryme Tyme (Shad released, JTG a jobber), The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd, possible good singles career, DH Smith, likely soon to be released) and Hawkins and Archer (Archer released, Hawkins a jobber. On Superstars.). Nothing good can come of breaking up a tag team in 2010 WWE it would seem. Unless you're Tyson Kidd. And even with him, we'll have to wait and see.
"WWE Universe"Again, this isn't a new to 2010 thing, but it still bugs me. It's just cheesy. Enough already.

So, what did you think of 2010? I've gone for five good things, five bad things, you can please yourself.
