WWE Vengeance - October 23rd 2011
« on: October 25, 2011, 12:24:48 am »
Thought from a "wrestling" standpoint, it was a solid show.

If anyone on the roster should have 2 matches on a PPV it should be Dolph Ziggler, he has come a long way and in-ring is one of the most enjoyable to watch these days.  I definately expected Swagger/Ziggler to lose and pretty much with that exact finish, only thing that mildly surprised me was Ryder not winning, I thought he'd come down while Ziggler was out of it and score and quick victory, I guess Mason Ryan will get the belt instead, awesome! (Cheap WWE Game pop...).  I think one of the best things with Ziggler is his selling, take something as simple as Kingston doing that monkey flip, he flew and sold it like crazy.  Or look to RAW a few weeks ago and Hugh Jackman punching him, when he tweeted he had a hairline fracture, I believed him the selling was that good.

Beth vs Eve was decent for a womens match, yet NOBODY seemed to care, for the most part very much a hear a pin drop match, which was a shame, the closing sequence had some good near falls.

As good as a Sheamus push is (especially in WWE Game terms, yay!) seeing Christian crushed again is a damn shame, this feud, as with Christians feud with Orton, overall seems to onesided, at least where it matters, which is on PPV.  Sheamus has won cleanly twice and on the other PPV taken Christian out with a Brogue Kick while he was begging for "One More Match".

I think the telegraphed the outcome of the Rhodes match as soon as the IC Title was NOT on the line, didn't stop it being a good match but when the outcome is that obvious its annoying.

The tag match was one of the worst matches on the card for me, which considering who was involved, it was a shame, Triple H seems likes he's lost a step.  Is the finisher called "Little Jimmy's Finale"  :hihi: Now that I like.  Nash looks like he has been working out, he seemed to be in the best shape and most mobile since he's returned, although thats not hard, that Jacknife looked like it legit hurt Trips, or he sold damn well.

They definately found a way to make the Show vs Henry match fun, the old, lets just break the ring trick, heck I never thought that match could get such a loud "Holy ****" chant.  It protects both guys and sets up a rematch for next month too.

The Last Man Standing match, within the "PG" environment, and with the medicore in-ring talents involved was actually pretty good.  All round the arena and backstage, The table spot, through the V, Del Rio being thrown from the ring into the barrier, the AA through the announcers table and the dynamic brought by the broken ring made it enjoyable for me.

So overall, nothing major or out of this world shocking, most won who I expected, but the matches were all decent, so a solid effort in the end.

Have to say, I loved the Last Man Standing Match. It was as close to an old Attitude-era style wild brawl as you're likely to get in the current blood-free PG environment. ADR looked pretty ruthless and strong throughout it, which is what his character needs after dropping his first title so soon after he won it. Having them fight in the destroyed ring gave it a unique feel and it was good to see some backstage brawling too. Cena's best match in a while IMO. 8)

Henry/Show was pretty good too, considering who was involved. The crowd reaction to the ring collapsing was pretty cool, and it even led to Lawler mentioning Brock Lesnar~! :o

Sheamus and Christian put on a good match too, though there seems to be something missing from this feud for me. I can't quite explain it.... the in-ring action has been good, but it's not grabbed my attention 100%....

The rest was OK too. Agree with Hammy about the Divas match and the expectation of Ryder winning the US Title. Kinda glad he didn't win it though. :P

I enjoyed it for the most part, gonna keep this one for the collection. :)

I wasn't expecting a whole lot going into this PPV, but in the end I thought it was a good show. I thought every match was at least watchable. My favorite matches on the card were the tag titles match, Rhodes vs Orton & The Last Man Standing match. Del Rio retaining was great because I would have been mad if Cena won the title back. Del Rio got a much needed win and the match was very good.

The HHH & Punk vs Miz & Truth match was very disappointing. Considering who was in this match, I was expecting something good at least because all of these guys can work a solid match or better. Instead the match was very boring and I felt they were just going through the motions in this match. The ring breaking was cool even though its happened before. The Divas match was actually good for a change and it wasn't a waste of time.

Its too one-sided, that's the problem!
