In-Depth Team review
« on: August 23, 2009, 05:28:48 pm »
Ok so i know that not all teams are complete but thought i'd give my views on the ones so far.

D: Chris Jericho, Tyson Kidd, Mickie James, Tyler Reks, Hernandez

Well the self-proclaimed king of the game has been less than Regal recently and is struggling in the current game well down in 8th at Present. However this time D gets first pick and will hope to finish better.

His team doesn’t look the strongest on paper in terms of names but he has guys & girls who wrestle quite a bit and that’s what transfers into points.

To win Jericho and Mickie have to keep their titles for long periods of this game because looking at the rest of the team there doesn’t seem much title potential in Tyson Kidd and Tyler Reks. Hernandez is a great 5th Pick and I think will score extremely well for a 5th pick, But will he manage to get a title in this game? Jericho has a lot of work to do in this team if D is to be successful, but if anyone can lay a great foundation in this game its Jericho!

EricxGNRxSTARx: Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Angelina Love, Hornswoggle, Alicia Fox

New to the game and two weeks ago a very strong 1st three. However since then Love has lost her Knockouts title and it gives a different look to the team all together. I like Hornswoggle as a 4th pick, its probably not the best 4th pick but certainly not the worst and any team with Orton has a chance if the others pitch in. My worry would be PPV’s as I find it hard to see Hornswoggle, Fox & Henry on many PPV’s.

With talk that TNA plan to introduce a Knockout tag title you’d have to think that’s great news for anyone with Angelina Love in their team as she seems to be one of their top performers and that fact that she is in a stable with ready made partners could end up being good news for EGS and if Orton can keep his title could be a good debut.

Hammy: Triple H, Undertaker, Shelton Benjamin, Mike Knox, Matt Morgan

A “Veteran” of the game and knows all the tricks in the book. Hammy took a risk on MVP as his first pick in the last game thinking he would win the MITB. This time he has taken a dead cert for his 1st Pick in HHH. You know HHH will score especially since D-X looks to be back for a bit. But it wouldn't be Hammy without some risks…. Undertaker is never a safe bet in this game as even if he returns tomorrow he never really scores that well unless he has the title. Maybe Hammy has looked at SD and thought if Jeff Hardy is leaving who can challenge Punk? After that his teams looks pretty solid. Shelton will score well on ECW and surely will get the chance at a ECW title run at some point in the future…. Maybe this is the time. I’m not too sure about Knox but if anyone is crafty with his trades its Hammy and maybe Knox is a wait and see knowing he can be traded. Matt Morgan is a great 5th pick and will surely be up there as the highest 5th pick points scorer.

For Hammy to add another title to his resume, he needs titles. He needs at least two throughout the game giving him retain points and luckily he has potential in that region. HHH is always around the title picture and might now also be in and around the tag titles with HBK. When Undertaker returns then he’ll surely be around the SD title as without Jeff Hardy there will only be Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio & Morrsion to challenge CM PUNK. I’ve also mentioned that Shelton must be in with a shout of an ECW title reign and Matt Morgan is the fastest rising star in TNA and now is considered part of the main event. So that’s 4 possibilities… but a couple have to come through as quickly as possible for Hammy to win. But whatever you know he'll be up there and competitive.

More Cowbell: Christian, Matt Hardy, Tommy Dreamer, Chris Masters, Suicide

Cowbell looks like being a defending champion going into this game and I think he has a solid team again. There are quite a few good 1-2 picks in this game but I think in Christian and Matt Hardy Cowbell has the best WWE only front two. I think the “Surprise” of the last game was Dreamer and Cowbell has picked him up this time round hoping for some of the same. Whether or not that will happen remains to be see as ECW seems to be moving on. However I like this 4th pick as I think Masters is a favourite of Vince and he’ll get points and maybe even a small title feud at some point. I’m not sure what I think about Suicide as a 5th pick as I think there was better picks out there. With the other 4 picks he has I thought he might of picked a more steady pick like Doug Williams or Kong, but we’ll see what happens.

For Cowbell to make it two in two and really **** D off by retaining, I think Matt Hardy has to be back ASAP. Matt Hardy and Christian will probably wrestle a lot once fit and I would imagine that they would get a lot of points and if Cowbell can score well with his 3rd and 4th picks then he’ll be hard to beat. The other thing in Cowbells favour is that Christian has the ECW title and his is clearly the biggest name on ECW and there is potential for him to hold that title or regain it should he lose it. The only weakness i can see is Suicide as i'm not sure where he fits in now that Joe has the X-Division title.

Evolution: CM Punk, Michelle McCool, Gail Kim, Zach Ryder, Daniels

Evo has picked a brilliant team IMO. CM Punk looks set up as the only Major Heel on SD in the World Title picture and if Hardy is leaving he’ll start this game as champion. Having both Michelle McCool and Gail Kim is an advantage over almost all other teams as I think that both could potentially be champion by the time this game ends. Zach Ryder gets action on superstars quite a lot and is easily the weakest link in the team, so watch for a possible trade on him somewhere down the line. Christopher Daniels is the No1 contender for the X-Division title but I’d imagine that Joe has that title for a fair bit so you have to ask what does Daniels bring…. Well he brings consistency and PPV appearances and for a 5th pick will score more than any WWE picks at no 5.

I think EVO starts the game in the best position he looks like he’ll start the game with two champions (if Punk wins as expected) and both of them seem to have a decent length of title in front of them. Couple that with the consistent scoring of Daniels and the possibility of Gail Kim winning the Women’s title, you’d think that he’d be the one to beat.

Izzy: Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, The Great Khali, R-Truth, Eve

“The Lover Of TNA” Izzy has one of the strongest 1-2 combinations in the game with HBK & Kurt Angle. However taking his TNA pick so early might come back to haunt him as I thought with his knowledge of TNA he might have been able to have picked a little gem with his 5th pick. Having said that Angle is an incredibly solid pick and along with Joe will probably score more points than any other TNA guy. The Great Khali is an interesting pick because he has started to appear more and more and in turn is scoring better of late, but i would not of expected him to go as a no3 pick. My worry for Izzy is that despite having one of the strongest opening pairs he is not as strong 3 through 5.

Obviously Izzy feels that Angle could hang on to that title for a while and with HBK coming back and always being in and around the title picture and certainly on PPV’s… his biggest task though will be getting the best out of the other 3 places on his roster to support HBK & Angle who will defiantly score well. To win I think trades will be needed but if he can find points 3 through 5 then he'll be up there with a front two like HBK & Angle

James Lofton: Montel Vontavious Porter, Booker T, Carlito, Chavo Guerrero, Goldust

First impressions are that this is an extremely solid team. MVP can score well and very rarely misses a TV show. He also has immense title potential and could probably be fitted in around the world title, US Title or Tag title. Whether he’ll get any of them will have to be seen. Another taking TNA early in the form of BookerT  who we know can score well with or without title. We’ll never know if he could of snagged Booker at no3 and maybe got someone like Matt Hardy or Michelle McCool. Carlito is kinda in a flux at the moment obviously now out of the tag division and seems to be chasing the US title, another one that could go either way. I quite like Chavo & Goldust as 4 & 5 picks considering his TNA pick had gone and I think they’ll score ok.

If JL gets the US belt on Carlito and Booker can keep the tag titles then it take the pressure off MVP. The problem is that should Booker lose his title this team could go all game without a champion. That would make it very hard to win but at the same time he has 3 potential champions and I’m certain he won’t finish with the wooden spoon.

Timothy: Jack Swagger, AJ Styles, Beth Phoenix, Jimmy Wang Yang, Primo

Timothy has a good solid looking team. Swagger is defiantly in that US title hunt like so many seem to be at the moment and is young enough to perform often. AJ Styles is on 99% of TNA PPV’s and another pretty regular performer. Beth’s stock seems to have diminished recently but I still think there is massive potential for a Beth-Mickie-Gail Kim feud at some point and I think that Beth is a good no3 pick. Wang & Primo are decent picks as they are tradable but both do appear more than other 4th and 5th picks.

The first thing I think is lack of titles… Styles is always likely but has just come off a Legends title run and may not get another in this game. Swagger is in the US Title picture but then so are about 4 others so no guarantee there. The others seem less likely to get a title and therefore that might make it hard to win. But defiantly a solid team.

Rankin: John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Gregory Helms, Brutus Magnus, Batista

I really like this team. Morrison is bound for big things in this game I think and there is a strong support cast in place with Evan Bourne & Brutus Magnus leading the way. Helms has just returned and looks set to be a consistent scorer and if Batista returns even half way through this game he’ll get more points than most other WWE 5th picks. Very Solid Team.

Rankin’s team is probably the best consistent scoring team on paper but needs title points to actually win. Brutus Magnus is already a champion and I reckon might stay that way for a while yet. If Morrison can get in the title picture and maybe get a win and Evan Bourne can pursue the US Title then that will give Rankin a great chance and if Batista does return half way through and Rankin is close at the top his 5th pick might just be the Ace In The Hole.

Slashfro: Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe, William Regal, Shad Gaspard, Natalya

Another Team that has Huge potential. Rey is one of the top face’s on SD and whether its for the IC title or World title he’ll be in the hunt. Samoa Joe is the best TNA pick IMO. I think he’ll have the title for the majority if not all of this game and will be on every PPV. William Regal seem to be an integral part of ECW these days either in a tag team or challenging Christian for the title. Shad and Natayla are less brilliant picks but if you think that Shad could be a tag champion come SS and there are hardly many divas on SD with Natalya’s abilty.

I think this team has potential for 4 champions (Rey, Joe, Regal & Natalya) and if not champions in the hunt for titles which means TV appearances and PPV appearances. If Rey keeps his IC title I think that this team will go extremely well. If not then Slashfro might need another title to go alongside Joe’s to win or some clever trades.

Gnrfan: Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Sheamus, James Storm

Well its my team so I think its good. I feel like I’d need some luck to actually win but I think I’ll do better than the last game. To win I think I’ll need Big Show to remain champion as long as possible and hopefully Dolph and Miz can sneak a title in the game and give me some title points. Sheamus has impressed me on ECW and that’s why I picked him. I’m hoping he does well enough in a support role on ECW but if not he is tradable. Not too sure about Storm, I think he’ll be steady and I’m just hoping they don’t ditch Beer Money and give Roode his push. The one that interests me the most is Miz as I am wondering what they’ll do with him within this game. I hope he does well obviously.

I'm aware that on paper there are teams that are look better than mine and i have a couple of "Lets Hope" picks but i'm aiming for a top 3 finish.

Wang appears about once every 3 months doesn't he?  :P  I view him as essentially a nothing pick.  He'll be lucky to score 15 points all game and needs ditching as soon as someone good debuts.

Reading your previews and viewing your team, yours actually stands out to me more than others.

Big Show looks to be in for a long title reign, Ziggler does to, Miz announced he is going after the US Title this week and I expect him to get it, Sheamus is a solid, score a few every week kind of guy and Storm should be pretty decent to, I can't really fault your team much, I'd say 4 of your 5 guys will feature on nearly all PPVs, so out of the teams previewed so far, I'd say your the early favourite, in my book anyway.

Wang always seems to be on Superstars to me. Maybe i'm wrong but still its better than some 5th picks.

In all honesty, this stuff is hard to evaluate

with 3 extra people it just changes everything.

My team for instance, I would be the first to say wouldn't be a team I'd think could win a title in the 12 person game last league.

but with 15........ people have much weaker teams, so now, I have no clue whose team is great or what not.

Look at Malcolm's team a couple games ago. on Paper, that team was shitty and he ran away with the title.
