Comedy (Stand Up)
« on: August 02, 2009, 09:37:14 pm »
Ok. I'm a massive fan of stand up and just wondered if anyone was into it. (I realise that this might be in the wrong section but it seems like it should be with TV & Film)

I went to watch Rhys Darby on Thursday and he was brilliant. One of the funniest i've ever seen.

Guys Like Billy Connolly, Sean Lock, Bill Hicks, Steven Lynch, Rhys Darby, Arj Barker, Omid Djalli, Micheal McIntyre, Jerry Seinfeld & Jimmy Carr are some of my favourites.

Not such big fans of Lee Evans, Ricky Gervais (stand-up) or Jack Dee although they seem to be massive.

Any good ones that i'm missing coz i love watching stand-up.

You laugh until you cry, You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe, Until their dying breath

I have never hated anyone more in my life than Lee Evans. I hate the fucker with a living passion. I hate when Comedy Central airs 20 minutes of him during a commercial break in the middle of a show that has like 8 minutes to go. I do not find him remotely funny. It really says something about somebody that in 20 minutes my opinion of someone can change from ignorance, to dislike, hate, despise, and finally the urge to kill him.

Rhys Darby is great, Gnrfan.

My personal favourite is Jimmy Carr, having seen the man 5 times he just gets better and better. The best thing is he does a new tour every year and never repeats even one joke from a previous tour, all new material.

Another one is Dara O'Brien, the guy is hilarious. As is Louis Ramey & Marcus from Last Comic Standing.

There is not a single comedian I hate more than Peter Kay, not only is his material not funny but he has not wrote a single new joke in more than 8 years. Also the fact he has been proved as stealing the material anyway just makes him a pathetic excuse for a comedian. Much like Carlos Mencia!

I'm going to see Jimmy Carr in November and Michael Mcintyre in October. Looking forward to both. I saw Russel Howard last month and he was really good, he surprised me because his older stuff I never thought was too good, he always seemed to over compensate for what I thought was weak material by just being OTT. A sort of toned down Lee Evans but his new material was really good. I'm a fan of Ricky Gervais stand up too, I saw his last tour and hopefully I'll go see him next year.

My favs are

Billy Connolly
Michael Mcintyre
Jimmy Carr
Sean Lock
Ricky Gervais
Frankie Boyle
Lee Mack
Dara O Briain

I can't stand

Jack Dee
Jo Brand
Lee Evans
Ross Noble
Lenny Henry

Stewart Lee! Richard Herring! Jerry Sadowitz!

As well as a lot of the others mentioned, but they had been mentioned. Obviously.
