Turning Cena heel..... Is Randy Orton the Key?

I get asked by friends alot that if i think Cena will ever be Heel again.

I always say "No" simply because:

1/ He sell so much Merch

2/ Kids & Women Love him

3/ WWE loves the atmosphere he can generate i.e. Split crowd

and the most important one:

4/ There is no one who could step in and do what he does at the moement.

However i think WWE have been testing the waters with guys like Jeff Hardy, Edge, HHH & most effectivley Randy Orton. I think Edge just didn't work, HHH works as a face but not in the same market as Cena and probally passed his best, Hardy left, but Randy Orton's suprising success as a Face may be what WWE are waiting for.

Cena is very much in the Hogan mould IMO and i remember thinking the same about him, He had all the kids eating out the palm of his hand, sold merch like crazy but as i grew up, i kinda lost interest in Hogan and it became all about Bret Hart and i think thats natural. At some point the kids that love Cena will grow up and move on from Cena a different sort of Face hero.... and at that point i think WWE will turn Cena heel.

For the record i don't think Orton is the right type of Face (i.e. his creepy demeanour) to replace Cena and certainly not yet. But the crowd reaction he is getting are incredible considering how hated he was less than 3 months ago!

I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on:

1/ Orton's Face Run

2/ Who could replace as a kid-friendly World Champion Face?

3/ Will Cena ever turn heel?

With Randy Orton being the "right" kind of heel, I see the whole Austin vs HBK thing from '97/'98.  Orton is Austin and has turned face simply because he is so over yet his character in most ways shouts heel, heel, heel.  Cena, like HBK is the supposed babyface but the fans are sick of the babyface schtick so they great him with boo's.  But as mentioned he is a massive merch seller. I doubt Orton is the key after their massive feud last year I think they won't feud properly for a long while.  I think one day Cena will turn heel, but it might be too late by then, I think the next 12 months is the ideal time, before people just stop caring, how you would turn him heel I'm not sure, an attitude adjustment to a 5 year old comes to mind.

The only way to make Cena heel in one action is to have a guy who is massivly over with the fans getting battered by Cena. I think thats it!

Say in 4 months Orton is still getting massive pops.... have him about to win the title and have Cena come out and cost him it completely unprovoked.

The promo woould have to be good, but i think Cena is good on the mic and in his heel days was great at getting heat.

I think Cena will turn heel at some point. It may not even need him to physically do much. Perhaps just come out randomly and go off on the fans or something. It could work. Either that or have him beat up Mysterio. And then go off on the fans.

As for Orton's face run, I still don't quite get it. Why do we, the fans, like him? He just kinda became a good guy one day...

If Orton continues to stay over as a face, then maybe a heel Cena could not be out of the question within the next 2 years or so.

In fact I hope that happens.

In the Disney Wrestling Federation I'm not sure this would work

It would get some comments for a week and then it would be just another angle

Think people hope for a Hogan-esque heel turn - but when the crowd will be chanting ''your a meanie'' - c'mon, its doomed

WWE needs some type of controversy like a Cena heel turn. Even if it is only for like 6 weeks.

I mean think about when Vince exploded in the limo. That got everyone talking even though everyone knew Vince was not dead.

Why does WWE think PG means pre school? If u avoid blood and lesbians just about anything else will get through.
