Doug Williams Hits Out at X-Division Stars
« on: May 14, 2010, 09:13:44 am »
TNA star Douglas Williams says his on-screen comments about the company's X Division were not a work.

The British star — who was X Division champion until volcanic ash prevented him from defending the belt — calls his rivals "spot monkeys and trapeze artists" during TV shows.

And in an in-depth interview with Fighting Spirit Magazine, Doug was asked if he stood by those opinions in real life.

He replied: "Well, there certainly is a lot of that in most X-Division matches and it really makes sense for it to be toned down a lot because the audience watching get lost.

"You see one high spot after another after another, you just get desensitised to what they're watching.

"These guys are taking so many unnecessary risks to entertain a crowd that, at the end of the show, are probably going to go home and just forget about it.

"So really, I've got their personal safety in mind...that's one of my issues at the moment.

"They might not realise that at the moment, but they will."

The biggest match of Doug's career to date was taking part in the UK's first ever Ultimate X match in front of around 8,000 fans at Wembley Arena on TNA's January tour.

Speaking about that bout, he added: "Wembley's my home arena and it was nice to get the reaction from the crowd and the acknowledgment for all the many hard years I've put into wrestling, if nothing else.

"That particular style of match is a little bit daunting, but I think it had the right setting to debut in an Ultimate X match because any nerves I had were calmed by the reaction I received from the crowd. It was fantastic."

For me hes one of the most geniune characters in TNA. Perfect person to be the whole, im a technical wrestler and better than these circus monkeys, type gimmick.

I've missed the past 2 episodes, what's happened to Magnus, whenever I read reports he never gets mentioned, are they still associated or just down 2 totally different paths, I know Williams is all X-Division but last I heard of Magnus was a few weeks ago I think Terry squashed him.
