"Dashing" Cody Rhodes
« on: June 30, 2010, 03:59:03 pm »
I've only just seen last weeks Smackdown and I must say, this segment was superb!  In one segment I would say Cody Rhodes just stepped it up, character wise.  When he came to Smackdown he showed how great he was in the ring, but this promo, I thought was on another level, the best he has ever been, I demand now that he wins Money In The Bank!  Anybody else love this segment?  (And if you haven't seen it, try and hold back with the old comments, "He has a lisp, I can't take him seriously"  :P )

I think its the best angle I seen him working and besides WWE Game I would like to see him win MITB, he is better off now then swagger was before swagger won the world title out of the blue. I think they are building him right and I think it is only a matter of time before he is a main eventer. Just think 1 year from now we could be seeing Ted Jr vs Cody Rhodes for a world title these two are the future of WWE.

There's just something weird about having a verb as a nickname....

I noticed Striker bigging Rhodes up this week. Didn't he get attacked by him not that long ago? :lol2:

People who are still complaining about Cody and his character need to shut up. I like where this character is going currently, and it allows him to stand out with a different and more unique gimmick, rather than some arrogant gimmick he had with Dibiase.

Yeah the ring is bad, is it fashionable now or something, I notice Batista did the same bad thing.

Still that aside he is doing great, really like the new entrance music, since the Legacy split he has thrived, far better than Ted DiBiase.

Are you dudes serious? Dashing Cody Rhodes sounds like a gay **** star too me, come on you are telling me with all those writers that work for the WWE that Dashing is all they could come up with for Cody?

How about billing him as the next American Dream or something like they are doing with Ted Dibiase Jr, do some kind of gimmick off his father Dusty for crying out loud.  For **** sake when I saw the promo I laugh my ass because I knew that **** is not going to fly I give it two months and two things will happen, one Cody Rhodes will be gone, or two they will team him up with GoldDust and have them do some odd brother team tag gimmick.
My heart burns with a desire as it screams out for me to show you the error of your ways, and set you on the path of Righteousness!

2 Months an IC belt is what I see, he is suppose to be a fun character and if it doesnt work out Cody wont be gone, Cody is improving and a 2nd generation star, He is quite posssibily a future world champion, He can work in the ring and he is getting a little better on the mic. I dont seem him teaming up with golddust for any gimmick right now as he is a rizing star, and the only thing rizing on GD is his junk in his trunk.  :headbanger:

I think an IC Title reign is a good idea dude, a feud with Kofi Kingston could be great for both involved, slowly but surely he will work his way to headliner, I'm sure of it, I remember when people said Miz never had a chance, look at him now!

Those vignettes they started doing a few weeks ago have been a really nice touch (that and the awesome theme music).

Be interesting to see where they go with him now though.  After telling Kofi on NXT he was coming out his belt I thought that would be the feud, but now Ziggler has it I'm not sure where Cody goes, he needs a feud with someone really good, maybe a Christian to get him to the next level (shame when thats pretty much the role Christian has these days, vet getting the young guys over)

You know after seeing his last little promo on SmackDown I have decided to give Dashing Cody Rhodes a chance because it looks like they are building him the right way, and who knows with the right break here and the right break there "Dashing" Cody Rhodes could be World Champion some day!

Cody Rhodes wore a nose guard at this weekend?s SmackDown live event to sell the angle with Rey Mysterio from Friday?s SmackDown. Before his match with Percy Watson, Cody brought a WWE doctor to the ring and said his nose was broken from SmackDown. Their match ended when The Corre ran down and attacked Percy while Cody ran off.

Cody Rhodes recently spoke with The Toronto Sun to promote his match with Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 27. Here are the highlights:

The match with Mysterio:
"I'm not one for false promises, exaggeration or hyperbole. In sports entertainment, you hear a lot of those. But I really believe this match has potential to steal the show. We're stacked up against some beautiful matches and this is my hometown so that would be an added bonus. It's our best superstars. I wouldn't feel comfortable without having a quality story. I used to think I should be on Mania, but looking back, no, shouldn't have been. I wasn't ready."

His "Dashing" nickname:
"It's always been a running gag. My dad always tells people how good looking I am, with the movie-star looks that kind of garbage. So (my character) does a lot of things men do every day, (grooming things). I'm fully on board with all of them, and he'd hate to hear this, but a lot of them really come from Randy Orton."

I'm a big Rhodes fan now. ;D Wasn't all that keen on the 'Dashing' gimmick when he first started it, but he's grown on me since then, and this new direction, with him playing the paranoid, self-conscious, over-dramatic character when there's clearly nothing wrong with his face, is working really well too. That promo he did last week, with the lights down, him making those odd twitching movements, trying to hide his face from people, was great. Hopefully he is victorious at Wrestlemania. :ohyeah:
