Matt Hardy Released

MATT HARDY UPDATE
by Mike Johnson @ 4:00 PM on 9/12/2010

We reported the following earlier today on the Elite section of the site.

WWE Smackdown star Matt Hardy was sent home from the ongoing WWE tour of Europe today, sources within WWE have confirmed.

There was concern about Hardy's condition that manifested themselves backstage at an event on the tour yesterday.

Those issues follow an incident at last week's house show in White Plains, New York where Hardy was scheduled to team with R-Truth against CM Punk and Luke Gallows. Sources indicate there was concern about Hardy's condition at that event as well. Hardy was said to have left the show after officials spoke to him and never returned, not working the house show.

Hardy put over Alberto Del Rios on this past Friday's Smackdown.

Soon to be out of a job?

Terrible news as Matt is one of my top 3 of all time along with Jeff Hardy and HBK. If Kane gets a courtesy title run for his years of service, then so should Matt who has sold tons more merch than Kane could ever hope to. I mean a run with the actual strap not the ECW title. The Hardys are still enormously popular so I hope things are OK with Matt and if WWE lets him go he will be just fine in TNA.

Even as an Attitude era apologist, it's obvious Matt Hardy's best days are long gone. I was lucky (...) enough to catch some of his match with Rhodes last week, and he looks a sorry sight. Plus, he kind of acts like a tit online.

LOL. A tit? Matt is one of the best dudes as far as fan interaction goes. I have pretty much never seen him turn down any fans even when he was a heel a few years back. On his youtube channel he just posted videos with himself and fans outside the arena and with some Make-A-Wish kids.

As far as his best days being behind him , Matt has had many medical issues that have prevented him from training properly. He discusses some of them in the link that D posted.

Just like the T-shirt said a few years ago: MATT HARDY WILL NOT DIE. The dude has amazingly loyal fans.

Unfortunately it looks like Matt is in some trouble:

According to Dave Meltzer, WWE confirmed to people that Matt Hardy was "sent home" on Sunday which at this point means from work and not literally being sent back to the United States.

Not much else is known about the situation other than Matt Hardy being on the "office's radar." Meltzer also noted that "Matt's in a good deal of trouble right now."

Matt Hardy posted the following on twitter.com:

"Here's a quick hello to all my people & a reassurance to everyone that I'm fine, healthy, & in good spirits. Thx for all of your support. When the time is right, I'll put everything out there as far as what 'really' went down. I know I have to protect me & my brand, & I will. I appreciate my fans so much that I'll always be honest with them, & the whole story certainly isn't out there now. I appreciate all of the things the WWE has done 4 me in the past, they have been gracious to me-but now, it's decision time for me. Thx all."

The dirt sheets continue to be against Matt Hardy as Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Hardy is on "very thin ice" with the company. According to Alvarez, WWE initially didn't want to release him since he would be able to reform the Hardy Boyz with brother Jeff in TNA. However, things have apparently changed following this weekend and the video blog Hardy made that WWE was not happy with at all. Lastly, Alvarez mentions that the "punk stooge" comment in Hardy's video was a reference to CM Punk, who Hardy is said not to get along with.

According to Dave Meltzer, members of the WWE creative team have been told that Matt Hardy will not be used for the foreseeable future. However, he has not been released or even suspended at this point.

Meltzer reports that the recent Cody Rhodes promo on Hardy's weight was, similar to Mickie James and Serena, WWE's way of sending him a warning message.

In an interesting note regarding Hardy's YouTube video, it was said that WWE was particularly upset about Hardy reading a wrestling website headline that mentioned John Cena's movie Legendary bombing at the box office.

WWE has come to terms on the release of Matt Hardy, effective as of October 15, 2010. WWE wishes Matt Hardy the best in his future endeavors.
From Matt Hardy's Twitter:

"Thank God! :) I swear.. It was harder for me to get released then it was to get hired! This is ABSOLUTELY what I want, now I can be me! I wanna thank WWE for giving me an opportunity, & I thank all the people & friends that helped me there. But I HAD to move on to be happy."

One less reason  for me to watch WWE but I know Matt will be in TNA/ROH or OMEGA soon.

I'm oddly indifferent. He hasn't really done that much for years. I liked Matt Hardy V.1, but since then, he hasn't done much for me (though I suppose his return in 2005 after the Edge-gate controversy was cool...).

I actually haven't been following this story that closely, why exactly did he end up in hot water with WWE?

According to Matt Hardy's twitter he is done with the WWE, and he also thank a lot of people who have help make a career out of the WWE for 12 year career.

Now considering that Jeff is in TNA will Matt becoming soon?

I kind of can't remember that many great mathes with Matt that didn't invole Jeff.

I have to be honest, the Miz is closer to being a better wrestler than Kurt Angle than Matt is to being headling PPVs with "The Undertaker" ny my view...  :undecided:

Rambling on twitter and youtube far too much.

Matt is to being headling PPVs with "The Undertaker" ny my view...  :undecided:
They headlined Superstars once though, all got to start somewhere

Last time he was decent was his feud with MVP, that was very well done.
