Imagine how big the Hogan segment would have been had it kicked off the show, unopposed....

Hogan took the bullet, they needed something to counter Bret's return - even I would have switched channel for his intro...

IF TNA goes live every week, they should go from 8-10. Based on this success, I think SPIKE might give them 1 live iMPACT! per month for the time being.

1.5 was good but i was expecting more. I thought with the extensive advertising they have done they might get a 1.8 or 1.9. Especially seeing as aside from Bret RAW was not nothing special.

I think people inside TNA will neither be happy or sad by the figure. I think they would of wanted more but at the same time they are adding viewers so can't be that unhappy.

Should of lead off with Hogan IMO

Wrestling fans are fiercely loyal to a brand - millions watched WCW to the dying day, even when WWF was vastly superior

changing that brand loyalty takes time - a good show, even a big name - it won't change things overnight

despite this TNA went against RAW - kept it's own fans and made 50% more

that's remarkable - it shows TNA has a **** fan base millions strong and can attract more

* Generation Me (Young Bucks) defeated Motor City Machineguns with a 450 and top rope moonsault in a great match.

* Kurt Angle comes out and cuts a promo in the ring. He puts AJ Styles over for their match on Monday night and talks about the Genesis match. AJ comes out and says Genesis will be Angle’s last title shot of 2010. The masked man attacks AJ and reveals himself to be Tomko.

* Angelina Love sat in the crowd. The Beautiful People come out and hug her with the exception of Lacey Von Erich.

* Awesome Kong & Hamada defeated Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne in a non-title match. After the match, Angelina comes in the ring to check on Madison but ends up beating everyone up, leaving Velvet crying.

* AJ Styles goes into Eric Bischoff’s office looking for Hulk Hogan. Bischoff asks if he can help. AJ Styles vs. Tomko for the World Title is made for tonight.

* Borash goes into Bischoff’s office wanting answers on Mick Foley. Bischoff blames Foley’s beating on Borash. Bischoff threatens to fire Borash.

* Beer Money come out and cut a promo on Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman. They want a match at Genesis with Hall & Nash. Bischoff says he will think about it.

* Sean “Val Venis” Morley comes to ringside with an entrance video similar to his WWE one. He says he is bringing his film skills to TNA because it needed a film division. Daniels interrupts him and says he has an idea for a film. Daniels beats Venis up and hits the BME. Morley ends up beating Daniels up.

* Hernandez and Matt Morgan vs. Beer Money ends in a no contest. Rob Terry came out and attacked Hernandez to end the match. Waltman, Nash and Hall come out to beat up Beer Money. TNA security and referees get involved but get beat up too. Bischoff comes out and tells Beer Money to be careful what they wish for.

* Bischoff comes back out and says the fans put a smile on his face and make him happy. Bischoff brings out his three personal friends – Hall, Nash and Waltman. He says last week they beat up Foley and this week it’s Beer Money. Bischoff makes Hall & Nash vs. Beer Money at Genesis.

* Desmond Wolfe defeated Samoa Joe clean. The Pope was on commentary for the match.

* A limousine pulls up with Ric Flair in it.

* Lethal Consequences come out for a match but Bobby Lashley beats them up first. Kristal got on the mic and addresses Eric Bischoff. She says until she gets a meeting with Hulk Hogan, Lashley will take out the entire TNA roster. Team 3D come out for the tag match and quickly end it on LC.

* Bubba takes the mic and says they were in New Japan last week. They mock The Nasty Boys and talk about them trashing the dressing room. Bubba says 3D are going to take the Nastys out.

* Jeff Jarrett goes into Bischoff & Hogan’s office. He isn’t happy with what’s happening to TN A. Jarrett says there is no talent in TNA, it’s always been only him. Jarrett threatens to sue. Bischoff cuts him off and they get into it.

* Ric Flair joins Mike Tenay and Taz on commentary.

* AJ Styles defeated Tomko with the World Title on the line in the main event. Kurt Angle came out to watch the match. Tomko attacked AJ after the match but Angle made the save. Angle tried to shake hands with Styles but Styles wouldn’t do it.

Does going live against Raw make sense? Long term?

I've never understood the need to run against ur tv rival in the same slot - after all, on seperate days both shows would have more viewers (due to the crossover)

in the final days of WCW they would get 2-3 and WWF would get 4-6 - if Nitro had been on Tuesday instead isn't it likely they would have been 1-2 ratings higher - and the same for WWF with the same people able to see both?

having the higher rated show is prestigous - but surely overall rating is better

the competition element is maintained simply by being the same week

the Monday night wars started with Bischoff trying to ruin Vince and then Vince trying to ruin WCW - didn't make much business sense...

In many cases you have 2 very different sets of fans, ratings for RAW if I remember correctly didn't massively jump up by 2.0 when WCW went under (before the quality of the WWE product slipped), obviously different nights could make a difference because there will be fans that watch both, but one thing that pushed the ratings to their heights was the competition, the WAR, the who do you watch, each show trying to out do the other, on seperate nights you just don't get that feel.

TNA President Dixie Carter tweeted the following in regard to the TNA Impact rating:
"Thank you, thank you for helping TNA set RECORD ratings in every way last night. We ALL won."

Come on, its a great rating, they get their highest rated segment EVER!

Loads of people thought they'd get their lowest rating ever.

Who thought that? How can that even be logical. My point is that was a supershow.... of course people will switch over to see an AJ vs Angle match plus Hogan.

Remember this has been advertised to the hill.... it was always going to gain viewers. Its progress but i think if they were setting a target it might have been more than 1.5. I'm not saying they will be unhappy... of course they won't but that will probally be their most advertised show of the year. And keep in mind we are now on the build up to Mania.

**** D thought they may even get to 2.0. I was thinking maybe a 1.7 or 1.8 and maybe they would of got that if it wasn't for two pretty big Bret segments (HBK & Vince) + DX vs Jerishow Tag Title Match!

Its good to see progress but Dixie Carter will hadly be thinking 1.5 is now the minimum will ever get.

I think The Rock will be used that week - i'd imagine Impact will be one of the lowest ever ratings, 0.5 perhaps

And Lance Storm said about 0.8

But thats just Izzy being negative so he can be happy when they do better. And Lance Storm is canadian.... in Canada they all watched Bret. TNA probaly did 0.1 in Canada! haha.

No one really thought it would do below 1.3 as their average on Spike (@9) had been 1.1 without the promotion, advertising and big names. So to say it would go that low is either sadistic or just BS'ing yourself.

Yeah IMO the Monday Night Wars are essential to TNA. As they believe that they have the greater product they should want the war.

It might take time but logic says if you are on the same night and you take 100 fans from WWE thats a 200 fan swing. So you grow and your competition loses viewers.

If you do that on another night you might gain 100 fans but those same 100 will also watch WWE which does nothing for you. Plus you can't measure progress.

Obviously this is all based on the premise that you have the better product and eventully the people will see that. If you don't deliver then the more established company could make you look very stupid.

Plenty of online experts thought it would do lower than the usual rating.First they were going against WWE. Not only that WWE was bringing back Bret Hart, one of the bigger names of all time.
TNA/SPIKE are thrilled with the rating.Would they have preferred a 2 or higher? You bet. But for their first time going head to head with WWE, this rating was a huge success. Having said that, next weeks episode doesn't look nearly as good >:(
