WWE will be releasing the ?Top 50 Superstars of All Time? three-disc DVD set on December 14th. Below is the official synopsis:

?It?s a timeless debate for sports entertainment fans everywhere. Who is the greatest of all time? Better yet, what superstars make up your top 10, or if you are a real student of history, 20, 40, or 50? The debates and cross-generational comparisons can go on forever, as fans compare Stone Cold to the Hulkster, Ric Flair to Shawn Michaels, this generation s giant (Big Show) to the all-time Giant (Andre), or ask whether John Cena and Randy Orton have already done enough to cement a permanent legacy in this industry. Now, with the 50 Greatest Superstars in WWE History fans can enjoy the first-ever countdown of the biggest superstars in history, complete with highlights of the top 50, commentary from today?s WWE Superstars explaining their choices, and more.?

#1 should be Hogan, but I sense bias here, Trips or Cena ftw?  Which ego wins out?

#1 should be Hogan, but I sense bias here, Trips or Cena ftw?  Which ego wins out? 

This be interesting I think we all should do a top 50 Wrestlers of all time and see who makes the cut and who does not. Anyone want to join in of the fun?

Alot depends on how "current product based" this is.

I mean Savage for example... he's a great in my book, but his relationship with WWE and Vince in particular is strained to say the least.

And its the age old questions that always come up:

Is it who's done the most for wrestling?

Is it the person who has spear-headed the greatest period in wrestling? i.e Austin/Goldberg

Some would say as great and as much as Hogan was... Austin's contribution to WWE was the greatest of all time.

Does it matter how long you were in the industry? Or is it how great you were while you were in the business.... Coz while the Rock was around he was as entertaining as anyone IMO

So many greats.... is it possible that no1 could be someone who never was a world champion?

etc etc etc

So many that could lay claim a top 10 place but IMO only 4 or 5 can lay claim to No1:

Flair, Hogan, Austin, Taker & Bret.... i'd put money the winner would be out of those 5.

But until the criteria is set, its hard to decided

Hogan by far number 1

not only did he cause one giant wrestling boom in the 80's  but also again as a heel in the 90's.

He was the draw with the NWO. Peoplecan say Goldberg or whatever but no.. Goldberg came at the end after it already boomed.

 Hogan greatest face and greatest heel of all time. number 1 easy

after that Ric Flair at number 2
Andre The Giant number 3
Stone Cold number 4
Rock 5


Flair, like Hogan did it longer across generations and promotions.

Stone Cold was huge but for a short time period same as Rock.

Hmmm, 'great' could be decided in a lot of ways. I assume they'll be going down the popularity route, moreso than the 'Who's had the most great matches?' road.

Also, is it just WWE? Will they be including the non-WWE work of some wrestlers? I know little about, say, Harley Race but I know he accomplished a hell of a lot more in NWA than WWE...

I think they'll put Austin at #1, and probably Hogan at #2. Hell, didn't Vince say that Austin was the greatest WWE superstar ever before he got inducted into the HOF?

I think Hogan and Austin's achievements are too close to call.

I honestly think Austin deserves to be no.1 on the basis that he took WWE through their "greatest" period and up against their toughest competition they'll ever likely face... but no one could argue if Hogan gets it.

They'll be 1 & 2 and i'd imagine that Bret, Flair, Taker & HBK would probally make up the top 6

I don't really know enough about Ye Olde Wrestlinge to make a proper judgement on who I think are the greatest of all time, but if I had to guess who they'll put in their top ten, I'd say Hogan, Austin, Rock, Undertaker, Flair, Bret, Michaels, HHH, Warrior and Savage. I know the last two aren't exactly on good terms with WWE right now but hopefully they'll ignore things like that. Hell, maybe even Bruno Sammartino, he held the Title for like, seven years...

To be honest I think you are going to see a lot of WWE wrestlers and maybe a few NWA wrestlers but that will all depend on whether or not they work for Vince at some point in time.

Yeah I think Bruno Sammartino will be on there because he was very like by Vince and his family, and his title run was back in the day when title runs meant something, not like it is today.

Depends. if its JUST WWE, then yeah Austin and Hogan are close. If its overall career ,Hogan murders him. Austin was big but for only 4-5 years. Hogan was huge for over 20.

Depends. if its JUST WWE, then yeah Austin and Hogan are close. If its overall career ,Hogan murders him. Austin was big but for only 4-5 years. Hogan was huge for over 20.

But the Austin Argument would be that those 4-5 years saved WWE, not sure Hogan could claim that as much. Hogan was chosen by the company for greatness, Austin was chosen by the fans and was very natural.

I'm a massive Hogan fan, but you take Austin out of those crucial years, WWE might not be No1 anymore. You take Hogan out and yeah it might not have been as popular (although someone else would of stepped in IMO), but WWE would of still been the king. I think thats the argument.

Plus Austin didn't hang around and become some-what of a Joke. Austin got out (maybe due to injury) but without anyone having to see him as a hang-around.

I love Stone Cold,don't get me wrong, and yeah I'll def elevate him to no lower than 2nd now

Flair was a great wrestler, but not sure how much he really drew.

I put  Hogan 1 simply cause more people know Hulk Hogan. I think he is more famous on a broad scale.

The cover for WWE?s Top 50 Superstars of All-Time DVD set has been released. The three-disc set comes out on December 14th. It?s unknown yet who the top 50 stars featured are but based on the cover, here are 27 of the 50 names:

The Rock, Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Edge, Eddie Guerrero, Pat Patterson, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Jerry Lawler, Jimmy Snuka, Gorilla Monsoon, Dusty Rhodes, Fabulous Moolah, Jake Roberts, Mr. Perfect, Junkyard Dog, Terry Funk, Triple H, Ted DiBiase, Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat, Randy Orton, Kane, Undertaker, Sgt. Hogan also should be number 1 cause,Sure u can say without Stone Cold, WWE would've went bankrupt, but how do u divide the importance of Stone Cold and The Rock?

For me, they both saved it, so The Rock takes away from some of Stone Cold's drawing, cause fans were paying to see both. In the 80's it was all about seeing Hulk Hogan.

WWE will be releasing a DVD called the "Top 50 Superstars of All Time" and The Wrestling Observer has revealed that Shawn Michaels will be revealed as the #1 superstar of all time on the release. Rounding out the top 10 includes Michaels, The Undertaker, Steve Austin, Bret Hart, The Rock, Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, Andre the Giant, Rey Mysterio and Roddy Piper.

I see no love for the tag teams on this list. I think Demolition were bigger and did more for wrestling then Iron Shiek who had 3 minutes in the spotlight, shouldn't Kevin Nash N Diesel be up there he was huge for both wwe and wcw.
