WWE Tough Enough Thread
« on: January 03, 2011, 09:57:29 am »
I loved Tough Enough when it first came out. thought it was genius. that season with Maven? Fan fuckin tastic. Or the season with John Morrison etc.

hopefully they do it right like back then.

The New York Times has reveled that WWE Tough Enough will return on the Monday April 4, 2011 the night after WrestleMania 27. The show will air in the 8pm EST timeslot on USA prior to Monday Night RAW.

Kevin Dunn, the executive vice president for television production at WWE, said to NYT:

"Tough Enough would be a brand builder for us. It will feature 12 men and women jostling for a one-year WWE contract.

It's a way to bring eyeballs to the WWE product that wouldn't necessarily watch a live event wrestling show, he said.

"Tough Enough" is being introduced as USA, known for scripted dramas, seeks to return to unscripted programming. Its last reality show premiere was "Made in the USA" in 2005. A USA spokesman said the channel was hiring unscripted development executives.

Mr. Dunn said WWE had been talking to USA "for years" about resuming "Tough Enough." After a splashy premiere on April 4 following "WrestleMania," the show will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on Mondays before "Raw."

Mr. Dunn said the addition of "Tough Enough" on USA did not reflect any change in the company's plans for a channel of its own.  "We're talking to partners," he said, and those include NBC Universal.

A number of mainstream news outlets including Entertainment Weekly and Variety are covering the revival of WWE?s Tough Enough reality series on the USA Network. A blogger for Entertainment Weekly queried if Al Snow would be returning as a trainer, but a USA representative stated that decisions about judges and mentors have yet to be made.

Snow currently works for TNA Wrestling as a producer.

Watched the first episode last night (had to download it, don't even know if we are going to get it here).  Thought it was pretty good, although I have to say none of the contestants seem even remotely likeable.

It seemed t me none of the contestants could cut it on Superstars much less Raw. All except 2of them couldn't even run the ropes correctly. Letting MISS USA on it, she is a media **** looking or her next pay day. Putting a pad on her ass, walking across the ropes, and sh can' even tumble in the ring. Love Stone Cold and the Trainers but I think this message board has more talent then the "stars" of this show.

I agree with Hammy that none of the contestants are likeable whatsoever. To be honest I can't see any of the bunch ever making it past Yoshi Tatsu status. However Stone Cold is a great host, and I love the elimination process. It's kind of like a wrestling version of Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. Episode 3 was definitely the best so far, was amazing to see Austin actually get back in the ring too. He hasn't missed a beat.

Best part of the series for me so far was during the second elimination Stone Cold asked the contestants up for elimination "What do you see when you look in the mirror?" The contestants answered with things along the lines of "A dedicated, passionate individual." Then Austin replies "When I asked you what do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror, not one of you said...a WWE Superstar." Brilliant!

Caught up on ep 2 and 3.  Got 4 to watch.

The look on Matt Cross' face when he was eliminated and how he tried to keep holding his belt, I felt gutted for him, a lot of passion I'm sure he just failed to show it.

Ryan coming out of his shell to escape elimination at the end of ep3 with that promo was real impressive, didn't think he had it in him.

What amused me was when they were criticising Ryan, saying when they looked at him they didn't think "Main Eventer".  You could say that about everyone on the freakin show!
