Has WWE Missed a trick (WM Spoilers included)
« on: April 04, 2011, 08:54:54 am »
Firstly i'd like to say that The Taker/HHH match and Miz/Rock matches both finished the way i thought and the way they should have.

But i can't help wondering if WWE missed a trick. Taker is now 19-0 and next year will likely go for 20-0. Now i thought Miz would retain, but in the back of my head i had this voice saying Taker will be 19-0 and Cena has never lost a singles match at Mania!

So for the 20-0 match i think it might have been Cena vs Taker. The match can still happen but it would of added that little bit more if Cena had never lost a singles match.

As great as the build and hype could be, match quality wise, in 12 months time, I'm not so sure.  'Taker had classics with HBK and HHH but Cena ain't in their league.

I agree 100%.

Apart from that, Takers streak isn't just gimmick anymore, over the past several years it's either been the match on the card or one of the best, i.e x2 HBK, Edge, HHH and even the Batista match.

If you go back slightly earlier, you can even single out the Flair at X8 and first HHH match at XVII.

On the other hand, though, who else could Taker possibly face that would actually be taken seriously as a threat other than Super Cena?

I agree and it will be up to Taker if he loses the streak or not.

The one thing i will say is that many seem to want to go out at WM losing these days (Flair, HBK, Hogan) - all special moments.

Taker will get to hand pick the person who beats him (if that happens) and not many people are left that are worthy of being on Mania with Taker. Cena is the only big name left!

Interesting though that he has missed out on fighting guys like Hogan, Bret, Austin, Rock at Mania. I just think win or lose Cena would be a great last match for him at Mania.

I just hope if he ever does lose, it can help shape someones career.

So for the 20-0 match i think it might have been Cena vs Taker.
It very nearly was...

Sources report that there was a massive last-minute re-write of RAW on Monday afternoon. Early in the afternoon, they were going with Triple H vs. The Undertaker at SummerSlam and Taker vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28. A few hours later they made The Rock vs. Cena announcement, which is a significant change within just a few hours.

There?s a feeling that the long-term plan has always been to build WrestleMania 28 around The Rock, even if he wouldn?t agree to wrestle. This could have played a factor in WWE?s decision to choose Miami as the host city. It?s possible that Rock will also go into the Hall of Fame next year.
