WRESTLING star Larry Sweeney has died at the age of 29.
Most famous for his role as a manager in Ring of Honor, Sweeney ? real name Alex Whybrow ? is believed to have taken his own life at a wrestling school in Louisiana.

Chris Hero, who trained Whybrow and worked alongside him in ROH, broke the news via Twitter.

Hero tweeted: "We lost a dedicated friend and an overwhelmingly talented performer this morning. Alex Whybrow aka 'Sweet & Sour' Larry Sweeney has passed.

"We spent a few years together on the road and Alex was gifted beyond measure.

"He could enthral you with colourful stories from his personal life or he could captivate thousands with his undeniable charisma.

"I loved him and my heart is with his family, friends and his countless fans. I will forever cherish our in depth conversations and time spent together.

"Love you man. Miss you. Rest in Peace."

Whybrow left ROH in 2009 and fought drug and depression issues. He wrestled and appeared as a manager sporadically post-ROH, but failed to recapture his previous successes.

He was highly rated as a young manager, running the stable Sweet and Sour Inc in ROH and drawing comparisons to Bobby Heenan.

Ring of Honor released the following statement on their website: "Everyone here at Ring of Honor Wrestling would like to express our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Alex Whybrow, aka 'Sweet & Sour' Larry Sweeney, with the news of his recent death.

"During his time here in ROH, Larry Sweeney was a highlight of every event he participated in.

"With his quick wit and phenomenal gift of the gab, Sweeney captured the attention of every fan sitting at ringside or watching at home on DVD, and on the rare occasions he competed inside the ROH ring, Sweeney showed just how gifted a competitor he truly was.

"Alex Whybrow was truly one of a kind, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him."
