C.M. Punk might not have the look, but he's got more wrestling ability than almost everyone on that list ^^^.

The most exciting wrestling match not explored in the WWE left to me, is C.M. Punk vs Shawn Michaels.

^ Good call.

Punk is very popular as a face and Jeff Hardy fits the bill, heck his overness with the fans = automatic headliner, he is the most popular guy going, women and kids love him, while blokes respect him for his sick bumps he takes.

CM Punk is an IC guy nothing more

when u look at the legends who have held the world title, CM and even Jeff Hardy just don't fit the bill.

maybe I am too old school, but I doubt many people buy a ticket to see CM Punk.

The past few times I've went to Smackdown house shows (with ECW), Punk has been a big reason in me going as is Undertaker, Edge & Morrison. I don't see how they don't 'fit the bill'? They are some of the most over and talented workers they have. If fitting the bill was an element of pro wrestling these days then do you really think Samoa Joe would have EVER been given a World Title run?

World titles have generally been prestige-less since Bret Hart left WWF (you could argue Steve Austin), thats when they started flying all over the place. Of course you couldn't really have a year long champ these days, as Hammy pointed out fans get bored so easily these days hell look at the near year long Cena run and how terrible it was. Fact is heels are always more effective as long term champs, fans want to see the face chasing the title not just defending it over and over again. Fans these days just want to see title changes happen very often to get there moneys worth, Vince just gives them what they want really.

Punk and Hardy are super popular

...use them in an incredible IC scene

Yes, have them fight for big titles - have that big title be the IC title!

Punk and Hardy just arent Heavyweight title material - thats not a slur, they have a huge role to play elsewhere

Gotta disagree, Hardy is a probably the most popular guy in the company, the most popular guy should headline PPVs, PPVs are headlined by World Title matches.

Dude was IC material 8 years ago, he has far surpassed that stage now...

...but thats because the IC title is a joke

Have it be something again - big names like Hardy and Punk going for it would make it significant

I can buy Punk and Hardy as main event guys, Mysterio not so much. I think he suits the IC Title scene. Looking at the SD roster, you've got guys like Ziggler, Finlay, R-Truth, Matt Hardy, John Morrison and Mike Knox who could be going after the IC Title. Yes, Mike Knox. Assuming they're not planning on future endeavouring him, he could work somewhere within the IC Title picture. Morrison though, may be ascending to main event level status soon.

It is significant again, Mysterio and Jericho's feud has done wonders for it.  People complain to easy, the intial thing was look they've been demoted.  But they have helped elevate the belt.  What made it was the feud wasn't just about Rey's Mask, it was the belt as well, Jericho going on about his record breaking reigns and how he wanted to win it again, Mysterio talking about the great champions who have held it and how much it means to finally hold it.  They headlined Smackdown battling over it, and when they switched Ziggler into the IC Title scene he took out Rey and stood tall as Smackdown went off the air...all over the IC Title, so I'm happy with how they are treating it at the moment.

As I said before, if you are the most popular guy in the company, like  Jeff Hardy, you go after the big title, they are never going to have the IC Title as the Main Event of a PPV again.  The issue you have is if fans don't take him seriously and start to turn on him, but they won't, because most do, and obviously its how you book them to, fans turned on Mysterio during his reign but heck he was booked to lose and lose and....lose.

I think because us, the ****, see hardy and punk as ic competitors for years we can't take them serious as world champions.  They are not big and sterioded out and what not.  I agree the biggest draws should be in main event and world title scene.  Hardy sells a lot of merch and kids love him and women too he's just like cena in that aspect.

To be a main eventer people need to love you and buy your **** or....

They need to hate you so much they want to see you loose to the guy they love.  If they can turn punk into a nasty win at all cause and cheat heel he will be the current and future of sd heels.

Well you might not realise this D, but worst in ring wrestler out of all of them is Hulk Hogan.

I don't know for sure, but did 80's Shawn Michaels make people think there's a future "WWF Champion"...?

Obviously with the Hulk Hogan/St. Slaughter/Andre The Giant/Randy Savage/Ultimate Warrior days, maybe Lofton can answer that one.

I buy a ticket too see CM Punk. I watch smackdown again to see CM Punk. I watched Ring Of Honor years ago anytime I could get my hands on decent video to watch CM Punk. CM Punk is a star. His character in the WWE has been stagnant. But thats because they haven't allowed him to be how good he can be. This last title run and the weeks on smackdown have made CM Punk extremely fun to watch again. Not that I ever stopped enjoying him, its just he's better now than he has been.  :smoking:
Johnny Nitro or John Morrison or whatever name he wants to go by SUCKS!

I am in favor of CENA FREE WRESTLING!!

I miss HBK and Edge!

Thats it thats all I have to say...Because I'm Sober_Times, And I'm awweeesoomee!

oh lord even comparing CM or Jeff Hardy to HBK is ridiculous

Hogan gets a bad wrap for what? cause he didnt jump off the top rope? Hogan's ring psychology is on a whole nother level than anybody elses.
