Hasn't Mir's wife now come out and apologised for him over this?

"I have never said Frank Mir was mentally unfit or a terrible human being. What I did say is that if ANY fighter really wishes to kill someone in the Octagon they IN FACT ARE a terrible person. I also stated that I had not heard any of Mir's comments so I was not directing the comment to him. I had been buried in getting my wife through labor and the baby here safely (29 hours of labor). There are a lot of fighters that say were fighting to the death or I want to kill that guy when we fight. Fighting is an emotional sport and we all say some stupid stuff, fighters just have a tendency to say it when the mic is on, when our emotions are at our highest. Do I think Frank is unfit or a bad guy? I do not, every experience I have had with him has been good and I really do not have much negative to say about him. I expect he will be in amazing shape and seems to be as hungry as we all are to get a crack at Brock's title." - Shane Carwin

A total of 28 middleweight competitors have been chosen to compete on the upcoming 11th season of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Spike TV's long-running reality series, "The Ultimate Fighter."

Spike TV today released the list of fighters, who range from a 21-year-old with a few fights to a veteran with 33 pro bouts on his resume.

Check out the full list of competitors, who will be coached by Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell and can be seen on the March 31 "TUF 11" debut.

Despite beginning with 28 cast members instead of the customary 32, this season's show is expected to use a 32-slot tournament. Sources close to the show tell MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) at least two opening-round losers, who otherwise would be eliminated from the show, will earn a spot on the cast thanks to their impressive showings in the losing efforts.

Not the best of events.

Irvin cut too match and not being in a good state the fight ended up being a letdown, Kongo's fight with Buentello was an alright scrap, Jones looked great, shame he and Vera didn't have an all out war, Howard scored a sick knockout but damn that referee should have been in a better position, and the Dos Santos tear continues as Gonzaga was solidified as a gatekeeper.

Devastated to see Mir lose, as a massive fan I was yelling at the tv for the fight to be stopped, the ref was far too slow, Carwin those is a friggin monster, I think he can beat Lesnar, heck I'm sure he will.

GSP won, easily as usual, not the most exciting of fights but he gets the job done, Hardy is a tough SOB!

Palhares sub was sick, I don't blame him, considering what happened to his teammate Bustamante against Lindland, you wait 'til the ref pulls you off.

Doubt it, I'd love Gomi and want him to win but he hasn't been a relevant Lightweight for a good few years, Florian on the other hand is pretty damn good these days.

I think the Pearson vs Siver fight will be a war, a great slugfest and FOTN, whereas the other one you mention, I see a quick TKO win for Quarry.

From mmatorch.com

As Brock Lesnar prepares to step back into the Octagon for the first time in a year next Saturday at UFC 116, fans are sure to see a very different look from the UFC Heavyweight Champion.

His battle with diverticulitis left him 40 lbs. lighter and in need of a new diet for his system to function correctly. Lesnar said he's now on a diet of about 3,200 daily calories, along with 300 grams of protein a day. And while he's come into his previous fights having to cut from around 285 lbs. down to the 265 lb. heavyweight limit, he's coming into his bout with Shane Carwin already on weight a week and a half out from the fight.

Lesnar talked about his health scare during this week's UFC 116 pre-fight teleconference, and the changes he's making to become a better fighter.

"I laid in a hospital bed for two weeks without any food in my body, I couldn't put any food in my mouth," said Lesnar. "To wake up every day, to be on all them drugs and not be able to put any food in your mouth, you definitely take a different look at life."

While the MMA world was speculating as to not only when Lesnar might be able to return but if he'd even be able to fight again, Lesnar says there was a time when he didn't know if he even wanted to try.

"I thought I was on my death bed, I really did," Lesnar said. "At the time i wasn't really sure I wanted to fight again. I had lost so much weight, I thought I was going to have to have major surgery... [and] that would have been a two year process to come back."

The layoff hasn't kept Lesnar in bad spirits, however, and in fact he's found it quite beneficial. With time to recover after being given a clean bill of health in January, Lesnar is expecting to enter UFC 116 in better shape than he was last July.

"This is kind of my second coming, it's brought a lot of light into my camp and my training," he said. "I think the setback for me actually has been a good thing, it has allowed me to sit back and concentrate on my diet and my training."

As for the issue of ring rust, which MMA fans have seen affect many fighters in recent big fights, most notably Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at UFC 114 due to a 14 month layoff, Lesnar says he's gone through so much in his training camp that it shouldn't be a factor.

"When I come back I want to be in greater shape and I want to be a better fighter," he said. "If I have any ring rust by the time July 3 runs around it will be a crying shame."

Penick's Analysis: It was great to hear Lesnar in such a good spirits on the conference call this week. This illness really seems to have changed him in some ways for the better, not as a whole, but he's just got a very different outlook on things. The way he was talking about what he went through in the hospital and the way his training has been going, I wholly expect to see the best version we've seen of Lesnar yet come July 3. I hope that's the case, anyway, as it will make for an extremely enjoyable heavyweight title fight if both fighters come in their best shape and ready to go to war.

Especially since he is going to win  ;D

Then he'll start demanding what he's worth.

Let's be honest though, Lesnar is THE draw here.

Although on an entire scale, money in MMA is comedy money compared to Boxing, yet only the BIGGEST of Boxing shows outdraw UFC ones.
