Vince McMahon: "It's not right to pretend Benoit didn't exist"
« on: September 19, 2009, 05:42:10 pm »
In the release of the new WWE magazine "The Untold History of the WWE", a timeline of events is shown and they also conduct an interview with Vince McMahon. At one point he is asked about Chris Benoit and whether a time will come where they can acknowledge him fully as part of WWE history. McMahon replied, "It's not right to pretend he didn't exist. It's one thing to include him as part of a historical perspective, which I believe is OK, and it's another thing to promote him, which is not OK. The situation is very similar to that of O.J. Simpson -- despite his controversy, O.J. was still a part of the NFL scene. You can't deny that he existed."

"The lift doors are closing... leaving you trapped in an airless, windowless coffin, hurtling downwards at a hundred miles an hour."

Don't release a DVD on him fair play, but you have to acknowledge his existence.

I hate how on WWE 24/7 they have wrecked old PPVs and Nitros by cutting his stuff out, its one thing not focusing on him, but to cut him out...

WWE's reaction to all this has been daft - erasing him from history doesnt change what he did

I think in time they will start to phase him back in, at least on DVD footage and such.

I think he has actually started to reappear when they have shown battle royals and such from the past, where he is there in a minor capacity.

They will have to be careful though, I mean I was watching WCW the other day when he was against Kevin Sullivan and Sullivan was hanging him over the top rope, I can imagine a lot of people complaining over footage like that being shown, many people are easily offended.
