Hmm

I do wonder how many audience members would even know who Bret Was - most werent even born when Bret quit WWF

...and all this talk of him losing his insurance - WWE could easily replace the lost income

I dont want to see a crippled Bret limp through a 3 min match

A manager role, the occaisional chair shot to Vince and a sharpshooter here and there - leave it at that

- The short-term deal that Bret Hart has signed with WWE is a performer’s contract so he will be an integral part of the storylines going into WrestleMania. It’s still believed by many that he will be doing one match, most likely against Vince McMahon.

Bret is old-school and is trying to keep everything about his return quiet. Because of this, a lot of news might not get out about plans for him in WWE before his first appearance. It’s still not confirmed that Bret will be hosting the January 4th RAW.

Bret is heavier than he has been in the past and is trying to get back into shape. He has a bad back injury that has made it hard to train.

Bret hasn’t talked with Shawn Michaels or Triple H since Montreal so it will be interesting to see how everything plays out between them.

I think I'd find it hard to buy a match between Vince and Bret, seeing as they were pictured shaking hands a couple of years back, and the fact that they had made up was fairly well publicised....

But I guess it's the only logical match he could have (if he is going to have one more match), other than Michaels, but I doubt that. Though I have read that Bret has cooled off a bit regarding Michaels recently. I think he would just like Michaels to apologise. Surely that could be arranged?....

Agree with Izzy about 'the kids' not knowing who he is. Hell, I know who he is, but I've seen barely any of his matches..... :-[

Is that true about the insurance thing?  If that's the primary reason he's returning to WWE, then I'm sad.  I don't think it matters how many audience members know who Bret was, at some point WWE programming will remind fans of the story to the point of overkill.

I'd actually prefer Bret to wrestle an actual wrestler and not McMahon.  He can always be carried by another wrestler (Jericho or Michaels would be fine here), but I'm not sure McMahon could do it.  Although with the PG style the WWE has going it could work.  His concussion and stroke issues sounded very serious to me.  If they're going to base the match of Bret pounding the crap out of Vince that would work too as Bret wouldn't be taking too many blows.

You should buy his DVD, the matches on it are superb, just skip the documentary  ;)

Bret v Vince

sigh - those matches either feature Vince beating up a wrestler who should destroy him or Vince being used as a punching bag

don't wanna see either

To me Bret coming back to WWE is Massive.

TNA could bring Hogan back, RVD and the nWo an i'd watch Bret over all of them. The reason.... because they have all had about 12 comeback appearences between them and in most cases were disasters.

I still think the most likely thing is Bret vs Vince as the build up would be TV gold IMO. But a angle involving the Hart Dynasty would be great.

I think the intrigue to see what they do with Bret is worth tuning in alone.

Imagine Bret just came out and did a shoot on WWE, Vince etc.... haha.

Warning: The following contains a major *SPOILER* for the January 4th edition of WWE RAW:

It's been rumored for several weeks that WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has signed a new short-term contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and will be returning as an on-air character in early 2010. There has been a great deal of speculation that Bret Hart will make his WWE return on the January 4th edition of WWE RAW, the night TNA Wrestling goes head-to-head with RAW for the first time ever.

Cable provider
DirecTV has released its preview for the January 4th RAW and confirms that the Hitman will in fact be hosting RAW that night. Their preview reads:

"Shocking Guest Host Bret The Hitman Hart returns to confront Mr. McMahon."

It's also worth noting that the January 4th RAW is listed as a 2-hour show, contrary to speculation that WWE will add a 3rd hour to compete with TNA's 1-hour lead-in.

Returns to confront Mr. McMahon..... i think we have our answer!

There will be an angle revolving around that overblown Montreal crap and we'll see Vince vs Bret to settle the score once and for all.

Its inevitable, yet pointless.

I wont be watching.

Meltzer is also reporting that Hart will possibly wrestle one more match and has also agreed to do a storyline based on the Montreal Screwjob. For years, Hart had been strongly against doing any type of storyline in WWE based on Montreal.

I predicted this exact outcome months ago. It was the ONLY legit reason to bring him back. To provide closure to the Montreal bullshit.

Im not going to lie, if Bret can wrestle half ass, it would be better then most of the lockeroom is today, and any old school fan can't tell me they dont want to see Bret slap that sharpshooter on Vince or HBK and make them tap out one last time. If you youngen's dont know...

I'm as old school as it gets, and I do NOT want to see this happen in any way, shape, or form. I actually think it will taint the legacy of the Montreal incident because it will make it seem like it was just a work, and its always been presented as a real occurrence.

Just let the incident languish in the past. Its one of the infamous moments in wrestling history, and will be talked about for generations. We don't need Bret Hart coming back 12 years later to give a sharpshooter to those involved to "get even".

I think Bret did so much for Vince and WWF that if he wants to have the spotlight on him one more time he deserved it. He was great on the mic and the best in the ring, If propped up and he could give a good match I would like to see it. I think the way WWE sells the MSJ it makes it look like HBK and Vince had the last laught on Bret, I would love to see Bret humiliate one or either of them, IF Bret can still perform in the ring I don't think it would take away from the MSJ. He deserves a Curtain call, alot more then Flairs WM crap he got. Give the guy one last moment and let him have his "revenge"

If bret can get into shape
If he can still perform
If he comes back and gets creative control on what hes doing

THEN LET HIM HAVE HIS CURTAIN CALL.

I understand what you are saying but i don't think Bret, Vince or HBK for that matter want this to languish and never given closure. There is a massive danger that for all the good all 3 of them have done for wrestling that they would be mostly remembered for the screwjob.

I think all 3 now have moved on in their own minds, Bret found it hard for years and HBK admitted it bothered him for years.

This is just a way to give IMO the best traditional face the WWE has ever seen one final scene in his wrestling career. I would wager that the first time his music hits and he appears the roof will come off the arena and that hasn't happened for a while in WWE.

As long as Bret has input into how things work then i think it will work. I don't expect the greatest angle in history as obviously both Bret and Vince are passed their physical prime, but the psychology of this storyline will be up there with anything wwe has put out (aside from HBK-Jericho) in recent years IMO.

The big question for me is ..... Will Bret also feud with DX? I would assume no as there is a risk that he might actually become the heel because like some people have mentioned... some of the younger fans might not have much loyalty to Bret.

The older fans amongst us who remember the disgraceful actions he endured will want him to get Vince and HBK and get his revenge.... but i don't think HBK & Bret will happen. Although i'm sure with HBK's ego they'll have some airtime together (which would be electric by the way).

I think a more likely scenario is Bret beating 10 shades of **** out of Vince and costing DX the tag titles helping the new Hart Foundation out in the process.

Is it be good.... The build up will be brilliant as long as Bret appears on the majority of RAW's between now and Mania. The match itself won't be brilliant.... but i can't be worse than HHH vs Orton at last years Wrestlemania.

Expectation is a killer and if you expect too much out of a guy who hasn't wrestled in years then you'll be disapointed but go into it all with an open mind and this could be one of the best things to happen to wrestling in a while.

We've known about this for months - and it wasnt all planned to beat TNA, as TNA announced the Jan 4th show recently...

...but RAW will hit a 4 for the first time in ages, in one of the most ironic moments in wrestling Bret will help WWE inflict a crushing defeat on TNA

If I was Bret I'd have insisted on returning the following week instead - he's keeping the same company that screwed him on top.

Not sure it'll hit 4 just coz Bret's there especially with TNA doing their supershow. I guess we'll see
