OMG moments with WWE
« on: October 16, 2009, 08:51:00 pm »
Now I mean OMG moments with WWE - not WWF

In its agonising 7 year existence - what has cleared the gloom?

A few of mine

John Cena returning at the Rumble

Shawn Michaels kicking out of the tombstone piledriver at WM25

Vince crushed by the cameras

Yours?

Off the top of my head, I remember marking out like a little kid when HBK returned as part of the nWo, had no idea it was happening and was really excited.

HBK's sweet chin music on Shelton Benjamin in the Gold Rush tournament. I loved that!

I would have to also agree on the Cena Royal Rumble. They fooled us all good with that one.

I'd also say the 4 way tag team ladder match at Armageddon (I think), when Joey Mercury got his face smashed...although that was OMG in likely the wrong manner.

Snitsky's clothesline on Paul London at the Rumble a few years back. I honestly thought he was dead or severely injured - and the refs did too. I remember checking the net the next day to see if he'd be walking unaided again...

Foley dumping Orton onto the tacks is one that sticks (no pun intended) out.

Undertaker nearly landing on his head at WM25 was also pretty nasty-looking.

Storyline-wise, I can't think of much. Eric Bischoff being announced as the Raw GM maybe?? I didn't actually know who he was at the time.... :-[

Marty Jannetty returning and having a great match as part of The Rockers and tearing the house down with Kurt Angle.  The OMG aspect was not just the shock of him appearing but the fact that most guys who returned after an absence like him where out of shape and/or sucked in the ring.  He looked great, was wrestling well, just the kind of veteran you want around.  Shame he screwed things up. (Several times)  I think he holds the record for the numbers of times he has been sacked by WWE, he is up at about 6...or 7

Hammy perhaps hit the point of this thread - OMG moments with WWE storywise are hard to think of..

Our moments have been various people (just) avoiding death or ancient veterans appearing...

WWE has really been so lazy for so long. If we did a WWF OMG moments thread we'd have pages and pages and pages...

I sometimes think though thats simply because most of the possible OMG stuff has been done and like people often argue when music plagiarism rears its ugly head (most music has been done people are bound to copy/repeat riffs/songs etc.) we are just short on ideas, and for real mind blowing stories, I think its tricky.

Heck there was a time when calling a women a **** and putting someone through a table left the audience shocked and talking for WEEKS!

Brock Lesnar suplexing the Big Show from the top rope and the ring collapsing - that was pretty cool

Katie Vick, Katie Vick.....*shakes head*

Its turned up AGAIN in the news - its being used to make Linda look like the maniac she is - she's defended it as just being drama

I'd take this kind of nonsense over utter tedium....but i'd just as rather take quality.....

What were they thinking....and if the idea isnt daft enough, the comic execution is baffling....

....fire Russo (wait, it wasnt his idea...)
