HHH's career actually hurt by marrying Stephanie
« on: December 05, 2009, 05:40:00 pm »
IM going to go the opposite direction from what most people say.

So many say that HHH has benefited from marrying steph and that he has had countless title runs etc due to being married to the boss' daughter

now maybe this is true BUT, HHH being married to Steph has actually hurt his career in my opinion.

HHH for a 5 year stretch was one of the greatest workers/performers in the industry and even after his countless injuries, its hard to find a bad HHH match even today.

So, he didn't need anybody's help climbing to the top of the profession, he was the biggest star the WWE had thus carried the ball for a very long time. I hear bullshit all the time how he should've gave the title to this person or that person but thats just fanboyism run amuck cause a lot of those, like Booker T had no business having the belt.

HHH's career has been hurt by Steph in the sense of, he will never get his just due for how incredible of an in ring talent he truly is. Would he have a few less world titles? possible but he didn't need Steph to accomplish what he did and its a shame so many view his career with an asterisk cause of who he fell in love with.

He's just years from taking over WWE creative, and presumably once Vince is blown up by his midget brother, Steph and Shane will enjoy Vince's voting stock too...

...it aint hurt him

...and to be honest if i got to marry Steph I'd have put up with a European title reign, hell - I'd have let them book me in angles with Hornswoggle...

He hasn't hurt him.

For me his best work is behind HHH. The triple threat @ Survivor Series was his best match in years. His match with Orton @ Mania was the worst Main event in long time @ Mania.

I think being with Steph helped him but by the time they got married his Era was kinda coming to an end anyway as the top guy.

He is pretty much in charge of how things are run on RAW... so he can pretty much do whatever he wants.

I didn't think the "Survivor Series" match was that great.

I also think that anyone that enjoys Raw week in and week our is lowering their expectations vastly.

I agree at the start of this decade, especially before the torn quad in 2001, Triple H was awesome.

He still had many good matches afterwards, but Triple H almost always had a great match on PPV during 2000/2001.

It's an itneresting thought but I'd like to think that people are able to take a step back and look at his career without bringing the fact he married Stephanie into it.

People say that there should be longer World Title reigns but complained when he held it for nine months in 2002/3. I wonder if they would have complained so much if he hadn't been married to her/it had been another guy holding the title??

I agree that his marriage has probably led to a lot of poeple having a negative view of him but hopefully they do remember that he was a main event guy anyway.

He had not yet fully recovered from injury and was putting on lack luster performances week in and week out, yet still held on to the title ^.

Don't forget Unforgivine 2002, Rob Van Dam....

Also even worse, not just a dirtsheet one, SummerSlam 2003 and injured Triple H who can barely walk still reclaims the title for the sake of it. I know he lost the next month, but that didn't help Goldberg.

Also Wrestlemania 2003, against Booker T.

All of that ^, that's a few reasons to complain.

People will always say he got all these title reigns because of who he married.  Truth is for the most part he has deserved a lot of them, he truly is damn talented, but clearly he has been given wins and spots that he shouldn't of.  I mean I'm guessing it was his "Power" that led to him and Jericho headlining over Rock and Hogan.

As for people wanting longer reigns, then slating his 02/03 one.  It wasn't the length, it was the fact that so many of his matches/title defences were horrendous. vs. Nash, Steiner, Booker T, Goldberg.....

....although at least HBK got some good matches out of him during that time.
