Eric Bischoff in TNA
« on: January 14, 2010, 09:17:55 pm »
Alex Marvez of Scripps News has a new interview up with Eric Bischoff. Here are some of the highlights:

Bischoff on why he hooked up with TNA: “It was the combination of a lot of things. Most of all, I like Dixie. She has a lot of integrity and I like to be in business with people like that. Secondly, I saw an opportunity. The way we have our deal structured is great for Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment. And this provided me with a chance to get back into a business I love. I believe a creative person who has a certain feel for this business can change the fortunes of this company in a good way.”

Bischoff on learning from WCW: “No matter what people have said or written about me, I know what I accomplished changed the business and had a positive impact. I also made a lot of mistakes and have the scar tissue to prove it. I’m going to try and repeat the good stuff and avoid the bad stuff.”

Bischoff on Vince McMahon: “I have a tremendous respect for Vince and, in a perverse way, like him. But at the end of the day, I think I’m better than him. I’m more creative than him and have a better feel for the business. It’s just that he happens to be a lot more successful than I am.

I love that last bit!  Glad to see he's confident in his own ability.

Argh - TNA management is murkier than....er....well, it's unclear

what is Bischoff's role? How does Hogan fit with that?

Sources inside TNA say Vince Russo is still unchallenged head booker - but also say Dixie monitors all

difficult to see how we will see much of a coherant direction with so many voices....

In yesterday’s TNA "State of the Union" address, Eric Bischoff said that he never crapped on Jericho, likes him, but doesn’t think he can headline. In response to that statement from Bischoff, Chris Jericho posted the following on his Twitter account:

“Bischoffs right I can’t headline in TNA…cos I’m not in my 50s.”

Nice comeback, and very good point.

I thought he choose to leave since he wasn't happy there.  I mean he was a World Champion in the promotion and was the one given the task of dragging along that celeb who couldn't wrestle people, his name escapes me.  Anyway how is that relevant, they are choosing to push him now, how many WWE Rejects do TNA push (over their own)

Just saying, people automatically bash BIsch and Jericho is my favorite but he isn't a  top 10 draw in wrestling history.

Great performer, wrestler but not a huge money guy.

True, he's never been a massive draw, but he's hardly going to like guys saying it is he, its a damn shame for all his talent and hard work.

Of course he'd be a top guy on TNA.. Bischoff likes to stir the pot and get a rise. Last i checked AJ was the champ though... Morgan and Hernandez are getting massive pushes.... the guys over 50 really aren't on top imo.

I haven't seen this weeks show yet, but I wouldn't call Hernandez and Morgan's pushes MASSIVE, more solid, maybe I'll think differently after watching this weeks show.  Interesting to note this week that all the winners in the matches involving vets and youngsters were the younger guys.

With TNA it is temporary but necessary. u have to have famous draws....... nobody cares about TNA just cause their wrestling is the best. u have to make people want to watch... so yeah, some guys are past their prime but it attracts more eyeballs which in turn allows those unknown great wrestlers to get noticed.

If Jericho knew the business like I do, he'd understand that. Hell, all the guys on top in WWE are 40 plus for the most part.

Tell me I read that wrong.

Are you trying to say you, a fan, know the business better than someone who's lived it, behind the scenes, in-the-ring, on the road for 2 decades, or did I turn over 2 pages at once?

Jericho isn't a main event guy - he's mid card and good at it, he's just not a draw as a champ

That being said, I don't think Jericho understands business.. just cause he is a wrestler doesn't mean he understands everything.

U have to have a big draw to give other guys the rub just like The Rock made Jericho relevant on his debut.. No body cared about Jericho in WCW except for me

so with TNA, they are using the established vets to rub the TNA unknowns and that is great business.

jericho should know that but obviously doesnt seem to.
