Sunsport's Wrestlecast Wins Awards

SUNSPORT's WrestleCast has won another two prestigious Wrestling Radio Awards.

After picking up three gongs last year, we were honoured this time for our interviews with Ken Kennedy and Bret Hart.

The highly-controversial chat with former WWE star Kennedy, now known as Mr Anderson in TNA, won Male Interview Of The Year - voted for by the public.

The in-depth Hart podcast picked up a prize for being AudioWrestling.com Editor's Choice Male Interview Of The Year.

Brian Kelley, from AudioWrestling.com, said: "We were honoured to have WrestleCast associated with the Wrestling Radio Awards show for the second straight year.

"It was to no one's surprise that WrestleCast once again dominated in the elite categories, taking home awards for their memorable interviews with Bret Hart and Ken Kennedy.

"In this, the ninth year we have held these awards, we have received a record-breaking amount of listeners."

WrestleCast co-host Joel Ross said: "To win again was amazing, but to get recognised for our chat with Ken adds an extra element of personal pride.

"At the time, WWE demanded we edit the chat, as he made some controversial comments on the use of steroids.

"However, we stood firm, pointing out that everything said was clearly Ken's own opinion and he was more than happy to have his views air - even though most would disagree with them.

"It actually cost us pre-arranged interviews at WrestleMania, which WWE pulled as a result, but this Award says standing up to them was worth it."

Brian added: "What started out as a small and very simple annual award show for wrestling radio shows has gradually grown into what could arguably be described as the largest annual award show in the industry.

"Today, the awards show not only honours wrestling radio accolades but also extends to the entire industry by honouring the best wrestlers and matches from the past year.

"At this year's event, the recipient of the coveted Wrestler Of The Year award was TNA's AJ Styles who personally accepted the award during the broadcast."
