Dolph Ziggler: "I want to be the best"

WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler has vowed to become BETTER than legends Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair in the ring.

The former Spirit Squad member, real name Nick Nemeth, has had a few false starts in the WWE.

But, still only 29, he has now promised to keep raising his game until he's the best in the world.

Ziggler told the Ottawa Sun's Tim Baines: "I don't want it to be just a pipedream, I want to be the best.

"It's something that drives me.

"I don't want there to be a debate about who's the best, whether it's Ric Flair or Shawn Michaels or me. I want to make sure they talk about Dolph Ziggler being the best wrestler ever."

He added: "When I was told about the Spirit Squad I was caught a little off guard, almost heartbroken.

"I had trained to be a bad-ass fighter and then they wanted me to be a cheerleader?

"But it gave us the experience, to be in the ring with the best wrestlers.

"When that was done, it was me going, 'OK, now I've had some time, give me something more along the lines of me being myself'.

"This character is mostly me. It's actually me with the volume turned down a bit."

Really like him, and he can go far, he is doing really well at the moment, at least he is optimistic, although chances of him surpassing HBK are slim to none.  Still hopefully he gets some gold soon.

LOL......It is good to have dreams is all I can say to Dolph! Do not get me wrong I think he has some talent but he does not what it has to be on the same level as Flair and The Showstoppa Mr WrestleMania HBK. Those dudes are a once in a lifetime gem that come around once in a life time, and for Dolph Ziggler it is good to dream about being better than those two but those are some series big ass shoes to fill.

Great to see he finally won the IC Title, hopefully he holds it until the end of the year, he needs a decent reign to solidify his current hot streak....

Dolph Ziggler will face CM Punk with the WWE Title on the line at the first RAW of 2012, next week.

I've been a fan for ages, great to see WWE getting behind him, I'm fully on the bandwagon.  Been talking to Evolution online and I think we both agree, seeing him win the Rumble would be awesome.

In the ring, there's a reason he's done double duty at PPVs with his performances.  He sells better than anybody on the roster, the best since HBK.  He's a great talker and he carries himself like a Main Eventer.

I've actually gotten used to his name now. I'm not sure how much sense it would make to change it now. Then again, this is professional wrestling, where a sudden change of name is one of the least nonsensical things that can happen. John "I used to be Nitro but am now the reincarnation of Jim" Morrison springs to mind...

Agree with you Hammy about his selling; he makes the Rough Ryder look like a Goldberg Spear or something. One wrestling mag compared him to Mr. Perfect in terms of looks and attitude and selling. Perfect is a bit before my time of course, but even I know that's not a bad comparison to have made.

The only thing I'm not so sure about is this 'Show Off' nickname (if you can call it that, he doesn't often refer to himself by it). Sounds kinda.... lame and not very good TBH.

Wrestlers need unique names, isn't a prob. for me.

I think he sells well, but his mic work isn't that good. The reason they stuck him with Vicky, is the lack of crowd heat.

Gimmick and Mic. work aren't the same thing.

I think he's got better as a talker.

I think the Perfect thing is due to a similiar moveset and selling ability.  Perfect in his prime sold like that.

They should slowly phase in a nickname i think someone previously mentioned and then call him that.

Like Orton is "The Viper" eventually give Dolph a nickname and segue into that being his name
