Elijah Burke signs with TNA
« on: July 30, 2009, 01:45:11 am »
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former WWE star Elijah Burke has signed with TNA Wrestling and will be debuting in the company soon with a new ring name.

Burke had a tryout match with TNA back in late May (click here) in a match with former WWE developmental wrestler Shawn Spears who spent time briefly on the Smackdown brand.

Both got rave reviews by TNA officials following their match. Jeremy Borash also hinted recently on his official Twitter page that "Elijah Burke" would not be coming to TNA, seeming to suggest that he would be coming in under a new name. Burke was released by WWE in October 2008 and has recently spent time in Ohio Valley Wrestling (a former developmental territory for WWE) where he got his start.

Wahey, they have signed The Black Pope, praise to TNA, a promising young talent like Burke can rise all the way to the top.  I don't like the idea of a name change though.  The Paragon of Virtue needs no change!

You know, I like the last few TNA signings, Burke can go and has a good personality.  Couple that with Ken Kennedy and you have another two guys you can toss into the main event scene.

I guess I can see why TNA is making him him change his name, they wanna own his character kinda like they own Shawn Daivari's "Sheik Abdul Bashir" I always liked Burke, I hope he gets a good push.

This comes from Wrestling Globe Newsletter and it reads

Elijah Burke says he hasn't signed with TNA despite rumors to the
contrary. He is undergoing another surgery on Friday in relation a
recent accident where he fell down a flight of stairs.

I doubt he is coming to TNA but I might be wrong this could be just something Elijah Burke is saying to keep the hype down.

-- On tonight's episode of Impact, a brief vignette aired promoting Elijah Burke's new character, "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero. It was noted that he's "coming" on August 16th, which is when the Hard Justice pay-per-view takes place.

For all the flack WWE get for bad names, this is up their with Abraham Washington.
