Both the Wrestling Observer and Pro Wrestling Torch are reporting that Eric Escobar’s release from World Wrestling Entertainment over the weekend hardly came as a surprise among many in the company.

Escobar had a reputation for being a “major headcase” throughout his run in the company’s developmental league, Florida Championship Wrestling, to the point that his heat trickled down to former tag partner Eddie “Primo” Colon. Also, there was much head scratching when WWE called him up to the main roster last fall.

Slightly surprised over Burchill, hope he signs with TNA and joins The British Invasion!  He can be the guy they bring in to take care of Rob Terry.  Although we'd have to wait 90 days....

Maybe with Moore and Helms together we could see a cool reunion, heck where is Karagias these days.

You can now add Maria Kanellis to the list of WWE superstars/divas released today.

She was with the company since 2004.

She also has an album coming out on iTunes April 13th entitled Sevin Sins.

The only reason I am surprised is that WWE was promoting her appearance on this season of Donald Trump Celebrity Apprentice.

Not really a big loss though. Will anyone even notice she's gone?

Maria Kanellis, who was released this afternoon by World Wrestling Entertainment, commented on her departure at Twitter.com/MariaLKannelis. She wrote:

Another name surfaced in the latest round of WWE releases late Friday afternoon.

World Wrestling Entertainment parted ways with referee Scott Armstrong according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

Armstrong’s release brings Friday’s total (known) departures up to four. He had been with the company since 2006 when they re-launched the ECW brand.

Earlier in the day WWE released Gregory “Hurricane” Helms, Paul Burchill and Maria Kanellis.
