Grade the Draft picks
« on: August 01, 2009, 02:28:06 am »
We always argue on who drafted great, who drafted stupid

so this thread, let's assign grades to each person's pick and why we grade them that way:
5 is highest  1 is lowest and we can do fractional pts. If enough participate, we can average and rank the teams

Nobody get butt hurt if someone doesn't like your pick
First up

4-Jericho is very solid and is keeping up his rep of being number one heel on SD. I could see him getting a run with the strap once his tag team with Show runs its course. Not the obvious pick like the big 3 on RAW but all 3 of them have had injuries in the last year or so.
Also, Y2J will get a push if the rumors are true that he faces Taker at Mania 26 then he will have to be strong going into that feud.

D's First pick I give a 4.

Jericho is the tag team champion and I really dont see them losing the belts anytime soon. They seem to want to kind of give the tag team belts some attention and prestige again. So  both big show and jericho could be good picks because they should be defending those belts often the next few months. But will either one wrestle alot of wins on smackdown each week? And will the tag team belts really be defended every ppv for the next few months? if they defend on the pvps thats good points and an occasional smackdown rematch for the titles could really rack up some points. Great pick.

The only reason i give it a 4 and not a 5 is because you just never know how long they will carry this. Or even how often they will really defend those belts.  :smoking:

My thought process was

Tag champs they can appear on all shows, so Jericho could mean double pts each week.

Jericho and Big Show are two of the biggest stars, so they will either defend every PPV or at least have singles matches on PPV

Also, Cena,Orton,HHH....... a lot of hit or miss there.

I took Cena last game and he lost the title at Backlash...

If I take Orton and Cena wins at SS I am **** and vice versa.

Tag title counts same as world title pts wise, so I went with a more surefire bet.

Chris Jericho - 5 - The dude always wrestles, he isn't dropping that tag strap for a while either, WWE gave it to him and Big Show because they want an excuse to have extra Main Event talent on all 3 shows, they have no desire to waste that loophole on Cryme Tyme.  And even when he does drop it, I could easily see another World Title reign, especially if someone got injured, dude is safe as houses and its hard to argue who would be a better first pick, someone like Cena might be slightly better but he is more injury prone and more of a risk.

John Cena - 5 - He is a points scoring machine most times, and you could see not just World Title but also a Tag Title reign in his future, WWE would love a reason to get him on all 3 shows.  Biggest issue I have is I think he is a bit more injury prone these days.

Just saw where WWE did a BigShow/Jericho music mashup

that alone means at least 2-3 month reign :walking:

A horrendous music mash up, but still....

I'm guessing that increases Big Show's value as a draft pick this game.

I didn't take Cena cause I didn't want him for a third straight game. Jericho is my fave wrestler!!

Can't see Cena winning tag title, that is a bit beneath his stature IMO. Plus they can't afford to lose him from the main event title scene.

Plus with Hardy rumored to be leaving and Edge injured, Hell, Jericho could carry the SD ball before its said and done.

Have to be careful, you know that should never be a basis for your picks.

Chris Jericho - 5

John Cena - 4

Jericho will score steady always. Even if he was to lose the title he'd still hold up his baragain as a No1 pick. I think he was the logical pick and not "thinking outside the box". Especially with both World Title pictures looking less than clear. I mean is Jeff Hardy a long time champion... Does SD have a potential long term champion? and RAW has HHH, Cena & Orton all with desires of the title and any of them could walk out of SS with that title and even then for how long.

Jericho is a brilliant pick.

Cena is a definate 5 with the title and as champion for the majority of the game would be the top scorer. However without the title doesn't have the same affect as D found out in the last game.

I believe there are 4 5* picks and one is gone.

Randy Orton I would say a 4.  He may be in the title scene for now but I see him drifting out for a bit when Legacy implodes and he gets DQ'd too much.

Triple H - 5  ;D  He is due a good run and even if he doesn't get the big one, with rumours of another D-X run then they should be going after those Tag Straps...

Orton 4  As mentioned, gets DQ a lot, will 100 percent guarantee lose the title this game.

HHH 4  could be a 5:  If HHH doesn't do a DX run, this pick is a 4 only because HHH has lost 450 title matches this year and it is pretty clear he won't be carrying the strap this game. HHH is getting older where he does more promo/run in stuff than wrestle.

I did worry bout a DX title run when I picked Jericho but when HBK comes back....... He won't go to SD due to church obligations, so for me, that eliminates a tag title run.

Can someone in our research dept tell me the last time somebody won a title with Cena,HHH or Orton on their team?

Has anybody EVER won a title with Randy Orton on their team?
