Sting to retire?
« on: August 03, 2009, 04:08:12 pm »
Radio advertisements in Los Angeles for the October TNA Bound For Glory pay-per-view in Irvine, California are teasing that former World Champion Sting will have his final match at the pay-per-view. No word yet if this will be Sting’s last match or what but he is from California so the interest would be there.

So lets say he is retiring.  Does he put over a young star?  Go out with a victory?  Face another legend for a classic final battle?

He has already faced Samoa Joe and Matt Morgan on PPV this year and those matches were less than steller.  I like the idea of him putting over AJ Styles on his way out, face vs. face, give them plenty of time, have lots of near falls, have Styles just edge out the victory, and have the handshake and passing of the torch after and a farewell to Sting.

Not sure on his opponent, but I remember when Flair retired, TNA noticed the huge send off that they gave him and said they would do something similar to Sting when he retires.

Sting and retirement seem to go hand in hand for the last 20 years...

There comes a point where u just grew tired of it - if you stay - great, if you leave...well, so be it

Frankly, if he quits TNA he will have a run in WWE - even if its only for a month up to Mania

Sting is certainly the biggest name in TNA - they will be hurt if he goes

According to a report at ProWrestling.net, TNA Wrestling star Sting is not expected to retire after the upcoming "Bound For Glory" pay-per view as had been rumored.

The report claims that there's a strong possibility of a retirement-tour of sorts, and Sting could remain with the promotion until the spring of 2010.

Not sure why Sting would want to retire, good money, handful of matches, plenty of applause - he's loved by the fans and should keep going untill health issues stop him

The Wrestling Oberver is reporting, as we reported last week, that Sting is NOT expected to be retiring from pro wrestling following the Bound For Glory PPV. In fact, it's being rumored at this point that Sting may have signed on for an additional 6 months with TNA, and has proposed the idea of working a farewell tour that would lead to his retirement sometime next year.

It's also being reported that TNA really wants to bring Ric Flair into the company to work Sting's retirement tour, however, out of loyalty to Vince McMahon and WWE, Flair has turned down numerous offers made to him by TNA.

If there was ever a good reason for Flair to come out of retirement, this would be the one and ONLY reason.  A final match with Sting as part of Sting's retirement.  The feuds these guys had over the years, these 2 WERE WCW, I'd say nobody else is more associated with it than them, and it was only right that they had the last match on Nitro and I'd be cool with them retiring together.

TNA president Dixie Carter posted a note on her Twitter page today confirming that Sting is still with the company.

“Spoke with Sting last night,” Carter wrote, “and he said he wouldn’t miss Monday’s live show for anything. Can’t wait to work with Hulk”.

"Can’t wait to work with Hulk”.
Because he has such good memories of Hulk nixing the original, clean, Starrcade 1997 finish?  :P

Sting is a bit of a diva

TNA desperately needs a Sting run in on March 8th - he's their most marketable asset, a geriatric Hogan a close second
