Greatest Wrestling talkers/promos
« on: August 05, 2009, 07:32:45 pm »
One thing I've noticed that makes WWE a bit stale these days is the promos in the ring.

Orton is just so boring and it is just painful hearing him for 10 minutes.

Cena is corny now tryin to do the PG company spokesman shtick.

What made wrestling great aside from the in ring stuff, was the amazing, hilarious but intense promos u would get from Stone Cold, The Rock, HBK, HHH, Edge/Christian's poses, Hulk Hogan and the NWO's excellent stick work, Ric Flair of course
Old school guys like Randy Savage,Sting,Arn Anderson,Dusty Rhodes, Road Warriors, Jake the Snake Roberts, Rock N Roll Express etc etc

now days, guys just can't work the stick anymore.

Youtube some favorite promos if u can find them on YouTube.

I thought Kennedy was good on the shtick but they fired him.  Besides they dont do promos anymore RKo just gives 10 minute recaps.

Videos of individual promos can go here: http://www.thesquaredcircle.smfnew.com/index.php?topic=73.0  ;D

Going back and looking at past promos, IMO Foley was one of the best. Especially the ECW ones. Even if you aren't completely filled in on the current storyline, there's just something about them. On His 'Greatest Hits & Misses' DVD he says that one of the secrets to a good heel promo - advice given to him by Michael Hayes if I remember correctly - is that the bad guy has to believe he's right and he used legit anger and frustration he had when doing promos.

Of course, guys like The Rock and Michaels are great too. I also remember some amusing promos from mid-late 2001 with Kurt Angle and Stone Cold Steve Austin; Austin and Angle singing to Vince, Angle continually repeating what Austin said etc. Those are two guys who could pull off both funny and serious.

I would have to say when you are talking about because interview or promos two wrestlers come to mind because they give some of the best in ring promos that no one can reproduce or even come close to touch them.

The American Dream Dusty Rhodes and Superstar Billy Graham! Those were to of the best talkers in wrestling today, and if you have not pick up there video I suggest you do because you can learn a lot of from those two on how in ring promos should be cut!

I'll make your back crack, your liver quiver, if you don't dig this mess your at the wrong address, I have smiling face and I am full of grace, and Superstar while the wrestler are in the back  talking and laughing the Dream's out here smoking and cooking! ---Dusty Rhodes talking to Superstar Billy Graham.
