Ever taken a break?
« on: August 08, 2009, 02:52:01 pm »
Saw this elsewhere and thought it was an intresting topic

Wrestling fans seem very much geared to very specific things - and when they stop (or continue...) they quickly go

Doesnt seem to be many people that watch for years and years on end

So, taken breaks from wrestling or even certain shows?

I started seriously watching WWF from about Judgement Day 2000 to early 2002, I took an instant hatred to Ric Flair and when WWF became WWE and Ric Flair was ever more involved - i just had to stop

Didnt watch a min untill Sept '03 - this was deep in the 'inbetween' years. WWE had no idea what to do with itself - 'attitude' was gone and 'kid-itude' was to come...

Watched erratically untill 2005 when i finally gave up

Circumstances changed and by 2007 I started again and watched Raw and Smackdown every week untill early 2008 when it became very clear that WWE wasnt what i remembered. I switched to TNA and havent missed a moment of that since

Since early 2008 I watch....sections of WWE shows....i basically fastforward through every match and watch enough to know whats happening for the Predictions game

Started watching in 90/91ish I forget the exact year, I was very young after all.

I had a forced break from mid 96 - mid 98 since I didn't have Sky TV and all my viewing had been @ my best friends who I lost contact with.

During that period though I still rented a lot of classic VHS late 80s/early 90s events and I would pick up magazines in shops to glance at what was happening, who was doing what etc.  Even say Summerslam '97 on holiday one time when the hotel room had Sky TV.

After finally getting Sky TV in mid '98 I picked it up again and have run with it through to this day, and seen all the PPVs I've missed and a good majority of the Raws and other matches I missed out on.

I'm pretty much addicted for life now I think anyway.  Raw stinks, I watch it, Smackdown rules, I watch it.  Such is life of a life long IWC member!  8)

Well, apart from a time not long after I started watching when I didn't quite 'get' that Raw and Smackdown were the two main weekly shows (and even then, I wasn't always sure when they were on), I've pretty much watched regularly since mid-2001. I think it's a case of 'I watch it because that's what I've always done', like Hammy said.

I should probably watch ECW, since I often hear about how good it is. I watched like, the first two episodes and stopped after I decided that Raw and SD was enough wrestling per week.

I can remember the night I stopped watching WCW. around May 2000 when after shocked out of my mind they made Arquette world champion then at the next PPV they throw in Back on Jarret, For me I never seen Jarret or DDP as world champions and in a cage match with David Arquette that was the final straw, Few weeks later stopped watching WWE the programming to me just got so boring and over the top at the same time like they are doing the weirdest things possible but doing it in a way thats not entertaining.\,

didnt start watching again until about 3 or 4 years later and use the WWE ondemand to go back and see what I missed, Glad I didnt have to witness a Vince Russo World Title Run live.

Anyone here old enough to remember watching ECW when it was fresh back on TNN "The Nashville Network" on Thursdays? Loved watching them

I'm probally on a break now. I never hardly watch a full RAW, SD or ECW anymore. I tend to catch the highlight shows that Sky Sports put on now and again.

If it wasn't for the fantasy game i probally wouldn't look the results up on a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.

I try to catch the major PPV's i.e. Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam & Survivor Series.

But thats about it these days!
This is how it works, You're young until you're not
You love until you don't, You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry, You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe, Until their dying breath

Agree with GNRfan. I have a hard time watching it now

I skim through Raw, never watch ECW OR SD and I still have the past 2 impacts on my DVR and haven't watched them yet.

I watched wrestling from 1984-1991

quit for about 3 years.. I'd watch some major PPVS etc and Raw every once in a while.

Then once WCW Saturday Night started.. not sure the date, I started watching again and then Nitro to follow. Turned it over to WWE one night and saw Shawn Michaels and that made me start taping Raw and I'd watch it after Nitro.

then Nitro **** up and started running a west coast feed at midnight. So I'd watch Raw at 9 and then watch Nitro at midnight.
