7 matches (including a title defence) last night on a program that lasted over 2 hours, resulted in 32 minutes worth of action.

4 of those matches were approximately 3 minutes long. Completely appalling.
Sounds like the Attitude Era...

In the early 2000s, we had 20-30 minute main events every week on RAW, even if they were just tag team matches.
I was thinking '99 to be honest, my memory is sketchy but downloading them for Gnrfan I've watched a few.  One I watched the other day, with the Chyna heel turn featured such short matches it was crazy, the main event only just made the 10 minute mark.

I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me, hopefully tonight isn't just about plugging the new G.I. Joe film.

Thank God Raw started with a Randy Orton monologue!

I was so worried we'd get a match or something different!

..and thank god on a ''live'' program we got the '****' chants muted - yey!

Every segment with Slaughter sucked, and all it would lead to is viewers switching off.

It seems Vince must hate Canada and wasted his time booking segments to mock them or wind them up.  The only one I liked being The Miz in disguise, that amused me, and heck the dude benefits from wearing ring attire so he actually looks like a wrestler rather than a Cena clone.

The D-X segments, sans the superkicks were crap for the most part, just not really at all funny.  I really want The Legacy to win and get the rub...but hey who am I kidding, it ain't happening.

Nice dynamic between the Tag Champs and Cena/Orton, still not totally sold on the feud, but with a hot crowd and well booked match they could pull off something decent together.

Perhaps.  I was shocked that Jericho took that RKO.  It was a nasty looking bump.  I'm not convinced Cena/Orton can pull out a normal match without stipulations (street fight, last man standing).  These two guys bore men whenever they're in the ring and I have low expectations for this match.

Onto Jerishow, should they do a face turn for the Big Show in the future?  It would be interesting since he's always booked as this bad ass heel.  I think the tag teaming of these guys has worked.  I just hope they don't give us another Big Show-Undertaker program.

The DX segment was odd...but on RAW IS BORE i'll take it

Michaels one blow too many to the head routine cracks me up - he plays it with such conviction and Triple H is the perfect foil as the bemused buddy with his lunatic friend. Maybe they could be doing better - but these bits are genuinely funny and played very well

...is anyone checking their calender to see if we're in 2006 again?

Eugene, Chris Masters, comedy DX.....hmmm.....where is the spirit squad....

Seeing Masters and Eugene on Raw did remind me of earlier in the decade. Not in a nostalgic way, more of a "these guys have been fired since then" way. :P

Like Jeremy Piven, next week's host guy is someone I've heard of but don't know much about...

He was relevant in chick flicks and horror films 10 years ago, back when Sarah Michelle Gellar and Neve Campbell were "The ****".  Positive is he is a big fan.
