TNA: The New Breed
« on: August 20, 2009, 03:24:05 pm »
Just wondering what people thought of the potentially NEW Main Event guys in TNA.

First you have Matt Morgan who has slowly but surely been brought to the top, I was really impressed with the opening video package of Hard Justice, really got him over as a credible force, its those little touches that can make all the difference, the guy has the look, is a solid wrestler and a decent talker, he has definately emerged as a quality force in TNA, in his early days there I thought he was a little bland but they have crafted him into a credible star, and someone who is essentially homegrown, WWE never did enough with him for him to me seen as "One of those Ex-WWE guys".  So how far can he go?  I say World Title.  At 32, the time is now!

Next I'd say its obvious they are banking on Hernandez, the new ring attire, big push including beating Joe clean and getting his briefcase back he can cash in at any time, they obviously rate the guy.  For a guy his size he is great considering half his move set is X-Division like the way he flies over the top rope to the outside, I would ditch the new ring gear though, it is awful and makes him look fat, that aside the colourful nature is just no fitting for a guy like him, I know he is proud of his Mexican heritage, but there are much better ways to get that over.  I think the nature of him having the briefcase means he is bound to have a title run at some point, but I just don't see him as a mainstay in the Main Event scene.  I was surprised to see the dude is also 36, he obviously got into the business late.

They value tag teams more than WWE but I can see Beer Money being split in the next 12 months and the two of them being pushed further up the card.  Now I am a big James Storm fan but I think they'll view him as a midcard guy and it will be Robert Roode who gets pushed to the top, Nash recently said he would be a great top line guy and is a very good babyface.  I think with his wrestling and promo skills, if done properly he could be one of the biggest stars in the company.  His original singles run was killed by pairing him with Brooks and having him feud with Eric Young for what seemed like an eternity.  I definately see him as World Champion in the next 2 years.

So how do you think these guys will fair and who else do you view and the future, new faces in the Main Event scene, the guys to carry the company when the older guys, step down.

Matt Morgan and Hernandez are two of the best big men in the business right now.

Especially Hernandez. He has so much strength and skill.

Alex Shelley is a star if they'd use him right

You know i was thinking the other day you have the MEM established but the frontline is a mess.... get it sorted AJ, Daniels, Beer Money already exsist Add MCMG & Rhino to it and you have an awesome stable to fight the MEM.

I agree about Shelley... but i think Sabin is awesome too.

Good post Hammy!

You have hit the nail right on the head with this post those guys you have mention I agree with will be huge stars in TNA.

Myself I have always thought that Roode was the next big thing in TNA because his in ring skills are awesome and his mic skills get better and better.  SuperMex is going be the next big man superstar in TNA, I have not seen a big man who has power and can fly since the younger years of the Undertaker, and if TNA continues to work with him and bring him along I can see him as the next TNA World Champion sometime this year nor next year because he has all the in ring skills to carry the TNA World title for a good 6 month run.

Another person I would say could be a break out star in TNA is Eric Young, now I know there is a lot of people who will look at this and say I have lost my mind. However, I believe that if Eric Young continues to be a heel in TNA, he has the chance to be the next break out star in the X-Division for TNA.  Matt Morgan is going to be huge in TNA only because he was a bust in the WWE, and I am not sauing that is the reason why he is going to be a star in TNA. I am saying because he was not brough along or put in a program with a proven star who can help bring him along. If TNA will put him in some kind of storyline with Angle or Nash where Matt can show case his skills I believe he along with SuperMex aka Hernandez will be the future of the heavyweights in TNA.

I will say this TNA has a lot going for them right a good crop of young talent that is being develop along with tons of wrestlers who are ready to break through and become proven talent, and to top it off a good solid core of proven talent that seem to be on with helping bring the younger talent up to main event level. Give TNA  another five good years and TNA will overshadow WWE as the premier wrestler promotion in North America and the world.
My heart burns with a desire as it screams out for me to show you the error of your ways, and set you on the path of Righteousness!

Company president Dixie Carter is very high on pushing the younger talent and has made it clear that anyone who objects won't last long.

Carter has identified AJ Styles, Matt Morgan and Hernandez as the three men in line for big pushes in the organization. Bobby Lashley had been on that list, but company officials have cooled on investing heavily in him as a result of his other career in MMA. While he'll be featured prominently when his schedule allows him to work, Carter has determined that she can't build her company around a wrestler who won't be there on a full-time basis. Hence, Lashley is no longer mentioned as one of the stars Carter is banking on to lead TNA in the future and his stock in the company is down.

So Lashley's part in the New Breed of TNA's stars could be slipping.  Probably wise.  Why invest in a guy who is inevitably going to sign with the UFC?  UFC only do exclusive contracts so once he lands there he is GONE from TNA...

Lashley has impressed me in his matches, with his build a squash match doesn't look like jobbing but common sense...
