FlashForward
« on: August 22, 2009, 07:01:41 pm »
Anyone else like the look of this new series?  I'm sure it'll be right down Jim and Evolution's alley, so to speak.

A mysterious global event causes everyone to simultaneously experience, for two minutes and seventeen seconds, his or her life six months in the future. When it is over, many are dead in accidents involving vehicles, aircraft, and any other device needing human control. Everyone who survived is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen.

A Los Angeles FBI agent named Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) tries to figure out what exactly happened and why it happened. Along with his team, he creates a database of people's flash forwards from around the world called the Mosaic Collective (for which a website has been launched).

Only seen the 1st (I've decided to go on FIVE's) pace since they are only a few days out.

First 10 minutes I was thinking, I'm not sure about this, but by the time they'd caught up and Joseph Fiennes was looking around the city and the destruction left I was really getting into it, the program looks like its going to be damn entertaining!

Anybody still watching this? Thought it started really well then lost a bit of momentum in the last couple of episodes but really picked up on Monday.

Haven't seen the last episode yet, got it on my SkyPlus still.  I've found recently each episode is a bit meh 'til the last 5 minutes, then they leave you on a cliffhanger, I'm not sure about this series, and from what I read ratings are tumbling down each week.

Thats spot on mate.

Much like heroes the premise for the show is great and has so many possibilities but they haven't really hit the heights of it and i hear that the network agree and have told them to add more intrigue to the show.

You laugh until you cry, You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe, Until their dying breath

I suppose I question things I shouldn't, like that guy jumping off a building to stop himself from running that women over in the future, couldn't he just move to the North Pole?  :P

Yeah but the thing is he doesn't see where he runs her over does he? For all he knows he might move to the north pole go for supplies in his snow mobile and run her over haha. But thats the premise.

I suppose he could of just stayed in his house for 6 months but then how does he pay the rent. Its deep man. haha

But i think the idea was for him to show everyone that nothing is set in stone.

Like i say the premise is good but they haven't really delivered for me yet. When you compare it to Fringe for example its just dithering along without progressing the story much.

My fear is that to boost ratings they will have another Flash Forward and then another and then it'll get hard to keep up. For me if they have more than one Flash Forward then it should be capped at one a season.

Watched the Flashforward Revealed programme after Mondays episode and apparently they'll have gone beyond the point of the flashforward by the end of season one, which I was pleased to hear. Although they then said there's plans for at least four seasons so feck knows what they've got planned.

ABC has announced that FlashForward will not return to US screens until Thursday, March 4.

The Joseph Fiennes-fronted drama series was expected to continue in January, but the network have pushed it back after the Winter Olympics so that it can air without repeats.

FlashForward's first episode brought in a decent 12.41m for ABC Thursday, September 24, but its latest instalment managed just 8.01m - a new low for the series.

Yeah from what i understand they have sent the writers back to the drawing board after being unhappy with the writing of episodes for January. Its similar to what they did with V only shorter.

I've got a few episodes left to watch, but its officially been cancelled so I've sort of lost my motivation to be honest.  Especially since Evolution likened the writing to Vince Russo's....

I actually think this show might become an ironic cult favourite a few years down the line...
