Bryan Danielson in WWE
« on: August 23, 2009, 06:20:54 pm »
- PWInsider.com reports that at least 4 or 5 talents from the Ring of Honor promotion are being talked about within WWE. Word is that WWE might be going after some of the ROH talents because of ROH airing on Monday nights now and their campaign of “wrestling returns to Mondays.”

Interesting, from what I hear about ROH talent this is a good thing, well for WWE...

trying to destroy the competition

If these guys are only allowed to do 5 moves then doesnt matter how good they can be...

*Yawn*  ::)

Its strange because ROH will never be competition, maybe its just to bring some fresh talented faces in.

More like WWE helping the competition, ROH owner Cary Silkin's checks have been bouncing lately for a number of the wrestlers.

You being redundant as always, shocker! Guys like CM Punk & Evan Bourne came from ROH and look how they've done!

someone's views may differ from yours but an alternate view is never redundant - if you honestly believe there is a 'true' answer then take some comfort in how thoroughly disappointed I am in you

I've seen hundreds of superb wrestlers hired and fired from WWE for no clear reason - suppose AJ and Joe just aren't good enough?

Last thing we need is WWE hovering up stars it has no intention of using or using right

...as for Bourne, remind me - is he the stunningly gifted wrestler I saw tore up the show back in London and who is currently being squashed each week by Swagger?

A working agreement between WWE/ROH, like the WCW/NJPW one would've been great.

...But as we told, Vince considers it sports entertainment, not wrestling, so why are WWE even bothered...? It's not like those who find RAW entertaining, are going to jump ship.

By redundant I mean't your constant 'anti-WWE' stance that really really is tiresome, even the best of things is just never good enough for you.

And why did TNA wrestlers come into this? Just because Joe had a WWE tryout? Joe wouldn't be of any benefit to WWE and there style, quite overated imo. AJ would've been great in WWE but he made his own personal choice to stay at TNA.

Let's try not to turn this into another WWE vs. TNA bashfest, we have different sections for the brands for a reason barring the odd exception (WWE vs. TNA Dream Card, Ratings War etc.)

Ring of Honor star Bryan Danielson has agreed in principle to a contract with WWE. We noted earlier that WWE was seeking out some ROH stars and Danielson is the first one that word got out they were talking to. ROH issued an announcement earlier tonight saying Danielson has agreed to work with WWE.

Danielson is one of the top independent wrestlers in the world and has received praise from many within WWE, including Jim Ross. Stay tuned for more details.

THE FIRST RING OF HONOR STAR (AND ITS A BIG NAME) TO BE OFFERED A WWE DEAL IS....
By Mike Johnson on 2009-08-23 20:48:30
PWInsider.com has confirmed that World Wrestling Entertainment has offered former ROH champion "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson a contract.

Danielson, considered one of the best pure wrestlers in the world from a technical standpoint, has been the nucleus of ROH as he's been main eventing for the company since their first show in February 2002. Originally trained by Shawn Michaels and Rudy Boy Gonzales at the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy, Danielson has been something of a journeyman, learning and wrestling all over the world in Japan, Great Britain, Mexico and other countries, as well as training in MMA to create his own unique mesh of styles.

Danielson was under a WWE developmental deal early in his career when the system was based out of Memphis, but was later released. He's long considered William Regal one of his mentors and has been considered the best in-ring performer not signed to a national company for several years running and has given ROH a number of legitimate classics over the years with everyone from Jushin Liger to KENTA to Paul London to Austin Aries to Samoa Joe, among others.

Danielson was signed to an ROH contract when the company debuted on PPV, but earlier this year opted not to sign a contract extension. He's continued to work for the company since then as an independent contractor.

As we noted last week exclusively in the PWInsider.com Elite section, the ROH on HDNet move to Mondays brought ROH to the forefront of WWE's attention. Numerous sources within WWE confirmed last week that the company was looking into the contractual status of a number of ROH talents as there were several names that were now on the WWE radar. Danielson is the first name we've confirmed to have actually been offered a deal.

******************************************

From the ROH Forums.
Bryan Danielson has agreed in principle to a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Bryan has been an exemplary talent and a wonderful member of the Ring of Honor locker room and family since the inception of the company. We couldn’t be happier for Bryan and all of his successes, many of which Ring of Honor has been proud to witness first hand.

We congratulate Bryan on the beginning of this next journey in his brilliant career, and wish him all the best as he progresses. Many Ring of Honor fans refer to Bryan as the “best in the world” and we look forward to looking on in earnest as he shows everyone watching the wrestling world’s biggest stage just why that is.

Bryan will appear as scheduled at all of the September Ring of Honor events. Please join us in Philadelphia, Dayton, Chicago, Boston, and New York as we say thank you and farewell to a truly one-of-a-kind talent.

I can honestly say I have never seen a match of his, but if he is as good as people say that is one hell of a big signing.

Reported By Patrick W. Boucher on Sep 4, 2009 - 11:15:00 AM

Ring Of Honor sent out the following statement:

Nigel McGuinness has agreed in principle to a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Nigel has been a tremendous leader in the Ring of Honor locker room and, without question, a wonderful performer. His merits, both in and out of the ring, are extraordinary and any locker room with Nigel McGuinness in it is better for it. We couldn’t be happier for Nigel as he takes the next step in his stellar wrestling career, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nigel for all he’s worked for and through.
Nigel has pledged to fulfill his scheduled Ring of Honor commitments. Please join us in Philadelphia, Boston, and New York as we bid an extremely fond farewell to another member of our family.

Everyone at Ring of Honor is extremely proud to have called both Nigel McGuinness and Bryan Danielson their own; and we looking forward to seeing their stars shine brighter than ever. Like many of the wonderful sons of Ring of Honor that have written new chapters in their wrestling annals, we will look on with a bittersweet smile to the future where we have no doubt that Nigel and Bryan will amaze the masses – just like they’ve done so many times in Ring of Honor.

With the closing of this chapter a new one opens in Ring of Honor. We now look to an exciting time where new stars will blaze their own paths, while looking back in reverence to those who came before them. Who will seize the opportunity and carry the torch for ROH? We only hope that whoever it is will carry it with the same respect - the same honor - that Bryan and Nigel have.
My heart burns with a desire as it screams out for me to show you the error of your ways, and set you on the path of Righteousness!

They've now signed the 2 of the most recognisible names with the ROH product, hopefully they achieve similiar success to Punk.

Given the chance i think they will be. Nigel McGuinnes might need a bit more work but if they let Danielson do his suplexes like they let Taz, Benoit & Angle then he'll be a sucess.

You love until you don't, You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry, You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe, Until their dying breath

The Wrestling Observer is reporting what we initially heard, which is that former Ring of Honor stars Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness will be bypassing WWE developmental and will instead debut with WWE on the company's main roster. This of course can change, but as of now the current plan is to bring them directly to TV. No word yet on which brand the stars are headed to.

This is good to know, I thought we would have to wait a while to see these guys in action, I'd like to see them start on Smackdown.  I'm guessing though at least one will begin on ECW as that seems to be the place where 90% of guys debut these days.
