The Expendables
« on: June 27, 2009, 07:31:23 pm »

A team of highly-skilled and dangerous mercenaries known as "The Expendables" led by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and consisting of, Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Ying Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Hale Ceasar (Terry Crews) and weapons expert, Toll Road (Randy Couture). They are hired by the mysterious Mr. Church to overthrow General Garza (David Zayas), dictator of the island of Corza near Brazil who has caused devastation for over 20 years. Even with the help from an arms dealer, Tool (Mickey Rourke), the challenge won't be as easy as they thought. In their way is crooked CIA agent, Monroe (Eric Roberts), his psychotic bodyguard (Steve Austin), former British expendable (Gary Daniels) and General Garza's personal army.

Thats one hell of a cast!  Macho no brainer action films like this when done right are quality.  Just a shame its not due until April 23rd, 2010.

From February:

Jean-Claude Van Damme has spoken to totalfilm.com about why he turned down a part in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables, claiming Stallone was just interested in pitching money and action.

“Stallone gave me a part in his next movie," he told us. "But I ask him about the subject, about the story."

"He said, ‘You’re gonna make lots of money.’ I don’t want to hear that, I want to hear what was my character.  He was unable to tell what it’s going to be."

"[Stallone said:] 'You know, uh, well, the fighting will be good.' [So I said:] 'Sly, what is my character?' So I didn’t do the movie."

Van Damme seems fool of ****

U would rather stay in the straight for DVD flicks than be in a big budget Summer action movie?

YEAH keep dreaming Van Damme

Well if we are talking the legend that is Van Damme I may have to start a thread for the new Universal Soldier haha.

From what I've read he is quite intelligent, even though it isnt obvious I think he likes to believe his characters have plenty of depth, his wooden acting can get in the way, still Time Cop, Hard Target and Universal Solider are classics, this is the sort of film that could of reminded the mainstream he still existed.

Yeah, I've been following this for a while now, can't wait till it comes out.

This is only a fan made trailer with no actual footage of the movie, but it still gets me pumped when I watch!

Another great addition, cameo wise anyway...

Bruce Willis has announced that he will be appearing in a cameo role in The Expendables.

Star and director Sylvester Stallone wrote the movie's screenplay about a group of mercenaries involved in overthrowing a South American dictator. The picture will also feature Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Willis confirmed that the scene he is filming will include himself, Stallone and Schwarzenegger together on screen for the first time.

He told MTV: "That's the concept. That's the plan. I haven't united with them [yet]. I'm waiting for a call from Sly about when we're going to try and make that happen. I don't know anything about [my character] yet, haven't seen any pages yet."

He added: "But I'm excited about it."

Dolph Lundgren has said that an update to forthcoming film The Expendables could transpire.

The Swedish actor signed on in November to reunite with his Rocky IV co-star Sylvester Stallone, who has written and directed the tale of an elite team sent to South America to overthrow a dictator.

The 51-year-old explained that Stallone has not officially confirmed a follow-up, but he believes that audiences will want to see a sequel, Movie Web reports.

He stated: "[Stallone] hasn't mentioned a sequel. But people are obviously talking about it. Stallone is huge on sequels. I don't know what is going to happen. Even so, I think people are going to love this film. And want another one.

"They are going to be thrilled by what they see on that screen. Especially when I am going up against Sly. We are both friends and enemies in this movie. I think it's going to be really good."

Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis recently filmed a scene together for The Expendables, which is scheduled to open in cinemas on August 20, 2010.
