The Wrestling Observer is reporting that there is internal concern within WWE that Edge is not recovering as well as he could be from the Achilles heel tendon injury he received months ago. The belief heading into the rehabilitation period for Edge was that he would be well enough to return to the ring in time for WrestleMania 26, but that does not appear to be a lock at this point. Edge has pointed out in several interviews that this injury has been the most severe for him and the most difficult to recover from in his entire career.

WWE needs him - Batista can't plug the gap he left

imagine the pop he'll get on his return...

I think it's time for a face Edge - I was pretty tired of his gimmick and Smackdown needs a good face character - who have we got at the mo? Mysterio and Morrison?

And, ahem, Undertaker  :P

It will be cool though to see Edge as a face, hopefully it won't be the character gets diluted and for want of a better word, loses his "Edge", the guy his cocky and will do anything to be champion, face or heel, that shouldn't change, if he starts hugging Mysterio and being all nicey nice, it'll ruin a character that has been built up so well since he was forced to turn heel after those, real life events...

The latest on Edge is that people within WWE feel it’s a touch-and-go situation if he will be back in time for WrestleMania and they are going under the assumption that it’s less than 50% right now.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Edge's rehabilitation for the torn Achilles tendon he suffered is actually moving ahead of schedule. Sources are claiming that Edge has told people close to him that he hopes to return to the ring within the first quarter of next year, making it very feasible that he could return in time for Wrestlemania 26.

Source: PWInsider

- Edge appeared on the Bubba the Love Sponge show this morning. Here are some highlights:

* He mentioned he was in the North Carolina mountains in new property he has there. He said he didn’t mind sitting out and getting paid.

* His WWE deal ended in October but they added on injury time and said however long it takes to recover, that much time will be added to his deal.

* He said he’s went to Dr. James Andrews for follow-ups to the injury and is doing some major therapy in North Carolina with other therapy sessions in Florida.

* Edge said Christian and Shelton Benjamin had the best match at WWE’s TLC but he also enjoyed the main event.

* He put over Sheamus. He also put over FCW and talked about Ted DiBiase and Drew McIntyre coming out of FCW.

* Edge said Umaga’s death hit him hard as they were close. Umaga called Edge the night before he died but he said he didn’t even think to keep the message.

* Edge put over The Undertaker and said he has no idea how he performs so well. Edge said they have always been on good terms.

* He has no idea when he will return. He was originally told six months to a year. He has to see Andrews and then get in a wrestling ring to see how everything holds up. He said he’s hoping for the first quarter of 2010.

What is this Spear crap that Edge has got going on?

He sounds mental.....

I wouldn't mind except that Batista also has a spear, and Goldberg's spear is a million times better than Edge's.

I just think its odd. Its always been a decent move..... but for me its an odd move as a finisher.

Opinions?

I think they totally ripped off Don West's GORE GORE GORE of Rhyno

Edge has the dumbest finishing maneuver. let a skinny small guy tackle somebody and knock them out...

^Paul Heyman was shouting "Gore, gore, gore!" back in 2001.

I'm not a fan of this whole repeat-the-word-'spear' thing they've got going. It seems like they wanted to come up with something for the kids to shout. It's fairly cheesy IMO.

I agree that the Spear seems a more plausible finisher when bigger guys like Goldberg and Batista do it, but I guess anyone charging into your stomach at full-speed would hurt somewhat....

I like the Miz and his Really... and I'm Awesome as it serves a purpose of making him annoying and cocky.

But this Spear **** is terrible. A heel Edge was one of the best characters going i think. This face turn just doesn't really have "it" for me.

I mean compare Edge to Orton and i think Orton's turn has worked really well as where i see Edge as a much better heel than Face.

Once this feud with Jericho is over i'd like to see Edge vs Christian.... with Edge back as a heel. And totally rid of this "Spear, Spear, Spear" thing

It's not that he doesn't work well as a face they just haven't booked him well as one.

I used to think Randy Orton didn't work as a face, look at him now....

Its not always the Booking Teams fault. He came back won the Rumble to massive cheers. That has kinda wained.

I'm just saying it killed his momentum big time losing to Jericho at Mania, so yeah that wasn't great booking but i think its hard against Jericho coz even as a heel he still gets cheered (as well as booed). The Spear stuff that he's doing isn't great Face material in my opinion. Makes him look a little unstable.

Personally i'd like to see McIntrye lose the IC belt and feud with Edge. Also Edge vs Punk (Rated R vs StraightEdge) could be interesting

I assume they are the morons though that came up with "Spear".
